Peter Lynn KiteCats - One Sold/Pending, One Available

thanson2001ok - 3-4-2013 at 11:04 AM

I have two (that's right) original, late model Peter Lynn KiteCats. These are the folding models with the duck-bill hulls. I bought them from Don Montague who bought them, used one once and stored them.

They are currently located in the San Francisco Bay area and are in very good condition.

Ideally I sell one and get the other hauled to me in WI. It would be best for pick up but it could possibly be crated and shipped at buyers expense.

Here are links where you can find specs, photos, a review and video of the KiteCat in action.

Price is $3,950 firm. They originally cost upwards of $6,000 plus you had to get them shipped from New Zealand.

NABX is over, the snow is gone and warm winds are on their way. Time to think of fun on the water.

I am researching shipping costs to get one, or maybe both, of these Kite Cats to Wisconsin. Now is the time to snag one of these if you are on the West Coast!

BeamerBob - 9-4-2013 at 09:11 AM

Wow, so one of them has never even been used. If I lived on water I could ride one with I'd be all over this. Rideable water is over an hour away for me here, not to mention my difficulty in storing one. Good luck on the sale!

geokite - 10-4-2013 at 06:58 AM

I'd so be all over this is it wasn't for 1)storage and 2)no place to launch and get to the open ocean in San Diego.

sigh...

bigkid - 10-4-2013 at 07:12 AM

I heard about these at XBAN and thought about asking if 1 might be up for a new owner.
I drove past them twice and could have made a deal. Now that I am out of range you post them up. Shame on you, :P
I will not be tempted to pay shipping. No No No.

Grrrrr, need to look away..........

Hey, Jeff. All you need is a one way ride to SFO and then you can sail this baby back! :wee:

had a round trip ride a few days ago, besides the wind blows the wrong way for a return trip. Would have to tack an jibe for a month to get back, unless the 24m Sinergy is up to the task, then might just head to Mexico for some warm dry weather.

You could go to Mexico and soak up the sunshine and drink tequila then bring back an illegal immigrant friend which should pay for the kitecat and trip.

I'm off across the channel on Sunday (wind permitting) to pick up a Nigerian guy from Calais in France.

A Peter Lynn Kite Cat sure would be the cats pajamas at JIBE and WBB now, wouldn't it?

Remember, I can ship.

thanson2001ok - 21-5-2013 at 02:49 PM

OK, the water is warming up and you know you want one.

Taking offers.

Feyd - 21-5-2013 at 06:12 PM

Human trafficking! Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that!?

PHREERIDER - 21-5-2013 at 06:37 PM

in deep consideration, though strapless surf is currently got my attention and working for light stuff, this maybe the king daddy of rides.

couple days thinking on it

PHREERIDER - 21-5-2013 at 06:38 PM

thanson2001ok - 22-5-2013 at 04:40 AM

Drewculous - 22-5-2013 at 10:55 AM

I cant swing the price tag tho... Ugh, pure torture seeing this sitting here

thanson2001ok - 22-5-2013 at 12:27 PM

markite - 22-5-2013 at 12:44 PM

Mark

thanson2001ok - 22-5-2013 at 01:02 PM

Time for a ROAD TRIP!

Actually, I can get them to WI quite reasonably. (calling in a favor from a friend) So, you would just need to visit me in God's Country here in WI.

markite - 22-5-2013 at 01:44 PM

One of the first things i did when you put this up was check the distance from Cambridge, ON to Appleton, WI - just over 10 hr drive ..... Now if you were to sail one from Milwaukee across to Grand Haven .... oh the torture, oh the humanity.

Feyd - 22-5-2013 at 06:18 PM

Mark, you're closer to Appleton than I am. As I recall there's a juice bar in Appleton that had great juice. Love that town at night with all the trees lining the streets. Very peaceful.

How much can these things be broken down? Can I squeeze one in a honda Odyssey?:D

sand flea - 22-5-2013 at 06:25 PM

I've seen one on a Subaru!

thanson2001ok - 22-5-2013 at 07:31 PM

@Mark... just ten hours away from a piece of Peter Lynn history, man! Drive down, we assemble them, we sail them in Lake Winnebago and then you smile for ten hours all the way back home with yours.

@Feyd... they fold down as shown in the links. Or you take one disassembled with hulls on the roof.

thanson2001ok - 24-5-2013 at 08:09 PM

Sad to say, but they are off to other forums and Flea Bay this weekend. I'd like to keep them in the PKF family, but I have other toys in mind.

thanson2001ok - 25-5-2013 at 06:44 PM

One sold/pending, one available ... Or I might keep it. Decisions, Decisions.

Hi Thanson, does the kitecat, even still available for sale ?

Do you have picts?

Thanks!

Demoknight - 23-2-2015 at 07:23 AM

Considering this is a two year old thread, I doubt he even remembers selling them at this point.

AD72 - 23-2-2015 at 07:47 PM

I have one I may sell. I am located in the Sacramento area. I really don't want to deal with shipping though.
