For those winds I would strongly recomend 12m depower.Frenzy or Sabre is way to go on board.Well worth spending few extra bucks. You will never want to
fly smaller in those winds again. As far as samis, great kites but not nesesery best choice on board. However if You are short in cash get 5 or 6m as You
don't want to end up with two kites in same size.

Dunno, I had the 14m Frenzy up in a clean 8-10mph on the beach, smooth winds and it wasn't inspiring, I had no problem getting going in the bug, good
upwind and such, kite handled well for a low wind situation, but in that low of a wind fixed power foils really shine. For low winds if your going
depower I wouldn't go smaller than a 14m frenzy.
In that situation, at one point we had one rider on the 14m Frenzy, one on a 9m Buster with long lines, both seemed to have close to the same amount
of power, lift and speed. Big difference would be when the wind came up, Then I'm sure the frenzy would shine.

i love my depower but i'd like a fixed bridle for the low wind days.

In 8-10mph 14m frenzy is simply too heavy and I did fly same kite(Eli's?)14m for a while at SOBB and I couldn't work it as my 12m in 7-10mph.It's a
big diference.I had in mind 8-15 as posted not 8-10.If You looking for fixed bridle low wind 8-10 You should consider riot as well since it have more
lift.I would compare it as access/frenzy(dep) vs sami/riot (fixed).Anything above 10mph on board should be frenzy/sabre -just pure love for ATB.

Agreed, over 10mph, the frenzy is a sweet kite, Yup, I had Eli's kite out there. The Riot is a decent kite, nice and smooth, only problem I had with
it I have with a lot of kites, the strop's a little short for my likings, But I usually end up cutting the original strop and making my own longer
one. Not a big deal. The kite flies great.
Do the Riot's come in anything bigger than a 7m though, I've seen a 7m Riot and Sammy, but never a 9ish.
What fixed power foils are available in sizes around 9m and up aside from the race kites?
matthewlavin - 25-9-2006 at 11:26 AM
so you guys are saying a 6m or 7m fixed bridle is good for 5-10mph compared to my 7m montana depowwer which starts to generate great power and lift
at 15-20mph. I prefer to use a bar. can you use one with with a riot?
rock on

You can put any fixed power kite on a bar, but you'll have steering only, it will not be a depowerable kite.
Usually you have to go up at least 1 size when you go depowerable, for some reason you lose a little power with the depowerable systems.
Myself in 5-10mph winds I'm usually up on my 9m Buster. But at 5mph it's barely enough to get rolling, by 10 your having some fun. If your a light
weight then a 7m may do it for you though.

Yes there is 9m and 11m riot as well.Blade IV 8.5 have also lot of kick.
