Virginia beach kite festival Saturday May 4

buggydanny - 1-5-2013 at 11:57 AM

We have been invited to participate in the Virgina beach kite festival this weekend. More info on it can be found here:

http://www.beachstreetusa.com/festivals/atlantic-coast-kite-...

I know that this is short notice, but we just got the approval to use buggies and land boards. I hope that some can make it and start a tradition of traction kiting at this annual kite festival. Anyone who is interested please shoot me a U2U and I will send you some more information and the contact info of the organizer.

Virginia Beach kiting for a day, next day Disc Golf tournament, Florida (disney), Tampa and Clearwater for beach and DiscGolf, and to top it off Jekyll Island for Saturday on our way back home...... AND FOR A MINUTE i thought this vacation would only be for the kids!

Kite fest was a bust. They sectioned off the soft part of the beach into big squares w/ fence posts. And NOT big enought to buggy. The only place to ride would have put your kite right over every one of their squares. I don't know who said they wanted powerkites and buggies, but they were NOT set up for it at all. No way I'm flyin' my kites over metal fence posts. Then there was the "Big kite area AKA members only" sign. That was the final straw...... I have been to another AKA event, and they do not allow us to fly w/ them. They don't recognize us for insurance reasons. So if the "stunt kite snobs" want a kitebuggy to just sit there and show it off doing nothing, they can BUY one:o. No way I'm wasting perfectly good wind( probably the last of the season) hanging out watching them have fun . This was the wknd. I had scheduled to meet up with flyhighWNY and let him experience some "beach "wind. So ,off we went to 89th st.,where there are NO fenceposts! We had a blast!!!!!:cool: DOWNWINDERS!! WHOOP WHOOP

Danny, check and find out WHO said they were gonna allow us there. I never even talked to that guy Chris ,just e-mailed him. He sent me the same info you had. But I went to 17th st. and saw what they did not have available. Open space!!!! I don't think they have a clue about traction kiting. I'm glad you did not drive all the way down here for that.... we would have still went to 89th st. and did downwinders.:cool:

Awesome bud!!
Wonderful winds here as well (as well as inland winds can be). Was like 15 mph avg.
But no kiting. Oh no sir. Me.....
After weeks of prep, got all the veggies in.
32 mater plants
28 peppers
6 squash
6 zucchini
12 cabage
6 cukes
4 cauliflower
3 rows of lima beans
3 rows of green beans
4 rows of blackeyes
After a few weeks, it's finally in!!!!!!
My arse is whooped to......
Wifey and kiddies will have their fun canning it all this fall.
Sorry if off topic, but that's how I rolled today.
Everyone is riding but me. :sniff:
I will have my days. Oh, yes.... I will have my days
