I just bought this harness, I really like it a lot but the spreader bar straps are a couple inches short. I was always told to get the small, which I
did, and the waist fits perfectly with plenty of extra to go up or down in size. It seems Peter Lynn updated the harness a little by rounding the
straps off instead of having them be pointy. I'm thinking they might have shortened the spreader bar straps in the process. I have about an inch and a
half of extra on each side with jeans and a tshirt on and I'm 6'1" and 185-190lbs. I am a 34 waist....I believe the medium would be too big in the
waist.
Could you guys with this harness measure your spreader bar straps please? I would really appreciate it!
If the medium is going to be too big in the waist and there's no other option I guess I'll have to have an extension sewn on.
Thanks for any help!

I know I have my spreader bar straps tight when they almost reach the hook. My spreader bar is the spinning hook style and it is about 2 inches
longer than most, but still I have probably 6-7 inches of strap when everything is tightened up good. Only having an inch when tight isn't good
because you would have to somehow tighten it before you cinch your waist strap. Sounds like you were correct in ordering the small. Mine is a medium
but I have a 38" waist. The waist strap is just right for me so would be too big for you. I can't wear a large either, the velcro runs out before
the waist strap snugs up.tdmc96 - 1-5-2013 at 10:31 PM
I have the medium but I bought it when I was 20 pounds heavier.
I’m now 160 and I had to get a velcro extension sewn on for the waist strap.
As far as the spreader bar straps, I have at least 6 inches left when all tightened up.

I've got a medium as well, stand 6'2", 250lbs with a 40 waist (actual, not pant size). I had somewhat the same trouble with the 10" Prodigy bar it
came with so I replaced it with my hook spreader bar at 12" end to end. Now I've got about 3" on either bitter end of the straps when I'm happy with
the fit and position. Every inch of length on the bar is nearly two inches of strap tail length. If you do decide to sew extensions of some sort, take
a look at the red pull rings on the Ozone Base harness, simple, doesn't use up a bunch of material and if you do it right, the ends will still pass
through the cinch blocks without a struggle. BEC - 2-5-2013 at 04:23 AM
I got the small (waist size 31) the spreader bar strap that I just went out and measured is 19 inches long...it too has rounded edges and when I have
it on and tighten up there is only about 2 inches of strap.
** measurement was from where strap in sewn into faux leather stitching right on thigh if it was on...
If you need more info let me know....FYI for people purchasing this...I probably should have gotten the x-small...sand flea - 2-5-2013 at 04:38 AM
bummer...
could a shorter spreader bar help or is this the bar that came with the harness?
I have a couple different length ones you can try

A longer spreader bar would bring the ends closer to the strap attachment points so would add strap length.BEC - 2-5-2013 at 06:58 AM
FYI I have an 9in spreader bar on with the measurements provided. Its an Dakine spreader by reactor with Claude pulley system (strop and handles).
I will say when you get this all sorted out....you are going to love that harness for sitting in a buggy...NICE

It depends on your bar. The older PL bars that spun and swivel are wider than than current bars. If you order a harness with a new bar it will fit
fine. if you have an older bar style or different bar from another harness it will be wider. You can still angle the velcro (the two tabs that go from
top to bottom) just enough to catch the end tab.ChrisH - 2-5-2013 at 11:56 AM
This is with a brand new Bullet spreader bar. I was measuring to the first stitches. I realize that if I use a wider spreader bar it will work but I
want to use the Bullet, which is not very wide. I'm really interested in seeing measurement from a harness with the pointy straps. It seems my best
option at this point is to have the extensions sewn on. This seems like a mistake made by the manufacturer or designer....the straps are not
proportionate to the waste size. Hopefully Peter Lynn will remedy this problem so others won't have to deal with it.
Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it!BeamerBob - 2-5-2013 at 12:15 PM
21.5" on my medium and 17.5 on our XSmall. The XS has the rounded strap ends too. Never noticed that before.markite - 2-5-2013 at 01:36 PM
ahh sorry, I was thinking the velcro to hold the bar to the pad and you were talking about the straps. Mine is medium. 22 1/4" with rounded ends. I'm
anywhere from 34 to 35 waist and then have it to go over fall/winter buggy clothing but it's okay without all the extra clothing but I'm just catching
a little of the velcro on the sashChrisH - 2-5-2013 at 02:34 PM
Unfortunately, I don't have a place locally to go and try these on....I'd like to try a medium (only because it has longer spreader bar straps) but
would have to send this one back and wait for the medium to get here. I like my harness and spreader bar to be really tight so I'm pretty sure the
medium won't work for me but I can't be certain without trying one on. Kinda frustrating but I'm sure it'll be worth it when I have a properly fitting
harness and am cruising down the beach. :DChrisH - 3-5-2013 at 03:21 PM
Ok, possible solution....could somebody with a medium please measure the waist strap? You would adjust the straps so that the ends of the velcro, on
both straps, are flush. This will give me a good idea of how well the medium fits me without actually trying it on. I haven't measured mine yet but
will tonight at some point. Thanks everybody for your help!BeamerBob - 3-5-2013 at 04:48 PM
That measurement probably won't tell you the whole story. Can't you surmise what would fit from others waist sizes and harness sizes?BEC - 3-5-2013 at 05:37 PM

Here is Bob's two sizes in both a med and xs and mine was 19 inches in the small size so...There they are all three... BeamerBob - 3-5-2013 at 05:43 PM

Medium harness: very rough numbers taken with a tape measure, YMMV !!! but it's an indication of waist sizes...
extended with the velcro in full engagement - 46 inches
smallest waist size with full velco engagement - 40 inches
smallest waist size with only an inch of velco engagement - 37 inches
You would be swimming in a medium unless you were geared up for a polar expedition. MDK - 3-5-2013 at 09:47 PM
I purchased the bar with the harness and had the same problem, I assumed it was the wrong bar, but I like where it landed in conjunction with my hip
bones so I kept it and solved the problem by using a separate velcro strap to go from one side to the other. if that makes sense? I will have to maybe
take a pic tomorrow.ChrisH - 3-5-2013 at 11:30 PM
greasehopper, thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
MDK, What you're saying kinda makes sense but a photo would be great. I'm gonna make it work one way or another.

Awe, that makes sense. I guess I have some options Thanks for the pics.BigMikesKites - 6-5-2013 at 06:01 PM
i just put a small on my son who is a 36" waist and he didn't have any problems getting all connected. The straps were 19" long BEC - 6-5-2013 at 06:36 PM
Yeah, I have like a 30 inch waist and my straps are 19 inches long too...almost wish I had gotten the XS, but it was not available at the time. Still
really happy with this harness.

ChrisH - 7-5-2013 at 07:54 AM
Depends on what bar you're using....with the Bullet the straps are a little too short, with a standard spreader bar the straps will be way too long.
I'd rather have to clip some off then have to mod the harness.
