what is a quiver?

bigkid - 20-5-2013 at 01:06 AM

As the post asks, what is a quiver? Are they of the same make, model, or are they a collection of everything?

Does the States and Europe have the same view?

I have a quiver of Centuries(a complete set), and and a collection of others. Or do I?:puzzled:

Can you have beginner kites, intermediate kites and race kites in your quiver?

I looked at my entire collection of kites as my quiver. They are my weapons I have to choose from when go out and tackle the wind.

It's what you do when you tell ur wife you need another kite!! :-)

I have heard the term applied to surf boards and skis/snowboards too.

To me its the collection of kites & boards you own for different conditions but I tend to distinguish between kite types.

So I have my LEI quiver, My depower foil quiver & my fixed bridle quiver. Which ever way you look at it I have way more stuff than I actually need!

"Quiver" can be both a noun, or a verb.

A quiver is what you get when you poke jello.

A quiver contains arrows... It's not a unit of measure, it's a container.
In my kit is my quiver and I have kites in my kit ergo I have a quiver of kites in my kit. If my kites where in a quiver and my kit was that quiver, I'ld have a quiver full of kites in my kit. But my kit is not just my quiver and my kites are not all of my kit so my kit contains my quiver which contains my kites...

Mmm-kay?

thefreedictionary.com defines quiver as
1) a case for arrows
2) a collection, store or arsenal

Definition 2 seems to apply to kites .... if you have flysurfer silver arrows, then 1 and 2 could apply, though shaggs might tell us opening up a big silver arrow turns quiver into a verb ....:D

All the kites I own are part of my quiver and for good reason ,sometimes I need to use a 3m kite for the conditions, but may not what to use a race kite per say so I may have a bit of a tammer 3m in my set and would use that instead. I do have to say that I keep all my Sky Country kites in one roller bag together and wont put any other brands with them ,they only speak Ukranian and never get along with the other kites.:D
