For us that are coming down from the north to attend the spring SOBB the good old I-5 is having some trouble at the Skagget river in Mount Vernon where at 7:30 tonight a section of the bridge fell into the river :o

looked like when it went in the cars that were on it ,stayed somewhat above the water line ,one man was seen sitting on the roof of his car waiting to get rescued .

OOPS!

The guy who clipped the bridge and set it off was a Canadian.

This will mean an interesting detour tonight?

seeing the images reminds me of a recently built and huge bridge {somewhere?} in Canada's down-east (PEI/NewBrunswick area).
I worked with a welder whom 'worked' on that bridge.
A quote from one his many stories about 'working back home'....
"Me and my friends (fellow welders whom also worked on the bridge) will never go on that bridge" he'd say with a friendly chuckle.
makes me wonder.

I heard it was a trucker from Alberta . . . I can picture it now . . . "hold my beer and watch this" is what we used to say growing up on the prairies :D :P :D

-he called his wife a few minutes after hitting the bridge...-
must have been to order him some new(clean) shorts.
...we had all the permits he says...so naturally it's FULL STEAM AHEAD>>>
