Any comments on what would be a nice board for a kid? The one he is using is a monster.

At ten years old, I would think one of the MBS Atoms. Expect even soaking wet, he's not going to be stressing the trucks for a bit yet.
Biggest issue is going to be stance width. Worst comes to worse, get what cash allows and custom drill for the bindings, so his legs are constantly
splayed.
