HQ Ignition - First Ever LEI From HQ Powerkites

A new inflatable tube kitesurfing kite is currently in development at HQ Kites. This is the German kite manufacturer's first attempt at making such a kite, as all of HQ's current water-relaunchable powerkites are foils. The Ignition is said to be in development for two years.

The company hints that it is focusing on launching the LEI at a relatively low price, stating that "we have foregone expensive advertising campaigns and unnecissary kite trips for filming that will increase pricing."

"relatively low price"

That's interesting because their kiteboards sure aren't cheap.

But at the same time, HQ has been known to offer their foil kites at much cheaper prices compared to Flysurfer, Ozone, and even Peter Lynn. It's hard to beat $1500 for a new 15-meter high-profile water foil such as their Matrixx, as well as the sub-$1000 Apex landkite series. What I'm thinking is that, with their mojo on making affordable but still workable kites, they may end up releasing a tube kite that's perhaps around $500 or so below LEI's from most major companies, while offering the same performance.

But that's just me with my fingers crossed.

Had a chance to fly the new hq lei for my first foray into water riding. It was nice stable and easy to relaunch which was good since I did a lot of underwater kiting. But I did get up and riding by end of day. I rode the 12 and needed the 14 because wind was lighter than expected.

FYI I am an arc guy and this kite flew really well am considering one for my quiver

The demo tour is now taking place on the Outer Banks. We're visiting the Bay Area at the end of July. Florida in September.

Ignition inventory should be landing in August, so we'll have more demo kites then to send around.

Video part 2 will feature freeriding to some good Southern rap. :singing:

Looking to get one of these, anyone have one?

I set my pb in the buggy with a 5m back in May. Very powerful. Millenium falcon acceleration. Very stable. I'm sure it wasn't designed to go over 65 mph, but it did. I didn't have it pumped up tight enough either. It has more to give still.

Shush, you weren't suppose tell anyone.... Ok the secret is out.

I wasn't born yesterday, it almost seems like a melenum ago, I get melenum falcon reference. I love star wars hate star trek.

I live on a lake and want something I can fly in the summer and still use in the winter on the light wind warmer days.

I did not see any recommendation on kite size too wind speed, I was guessing the 14m for the 10mph winds.
