Is there a reason why NPW'S are better than foils?

I started with a 3m trainer kite on asphalt with rollerblades and loved it. I would still do it if the spot was still there.

NPW's are usually chosen because they are so well-behaved on "no" lines like in the video, as well as no cells to blow if you crash it.
I will ride my longboard and my flowboard with a 1.5m trainer on 10m lines in the parking lots sometimes. Surprisingly little wind needed to ride
when you're on pavement!

I say go for it....just like everyone said though...don't forget your helmet and pads.
I've been tempted to try that on our street...it's a one way ride though as the wind only blows west.

Anyone have a good source for shorter line sets?... 15m is the shortest I've seen.
I would like to start out super short (1-3m) then build up to maybe longer (10 ish).
I've seen some decent looking boards on Amazon,... But still in the $60 range... Anyone know how to go even cheaper?... $60 isn't much, but I just
bought an 8m kite, so if I end up having to spend that much, it will have to wait.

These guys in this video don't need (and you don't really want) 15m lines when riding in smaller tight spaces.

With real short lines, weight of line(drag) is not really any concern. So.... you don't even need Dyneema line.
I set up Nasa with 20 ft woven nylon line I found that was in the basement on a spool that was 20-30 years old! Just a wee bit thicker (than say
Q-line)...but still plenty strong and has been tested in 35+mph winds often. Used many times and still no sign of fraying yet.
I also have flown right of the bridal or on 1-2 meter lines.
Home depot may even have suitable cheap strong line on a spool! If you go much longer than 10 meters then switching back to dyneema WOULD be better .kitemaker4 - 31-7-2013 at 05:53 AM
Nasa wings are the ideal kite to fly in parking lots. Most lots have light poles so short lines or no lines are a must. The only kite I know of that
fly well with no lines are nasa wings. I do it all the time. Just attach the bridle lines to handles and go. I also fly with short lines from 5 to
10 feet long and everything in between 100 feet.

wheels I can probably build my own board for around $30-$40... And since I'm an experienced carpenter with my own full shop, that shouldn't be a

Soliver short lines are easy to make. I built the lines for my rev. Having crashed at the park I would say lots of protective gear. Hard surface is
not forgiving I would try something like 1.8 2 line trainer like my b2 as unlues the wids are 20+ is should pull enough move without ripping you off

Another factor in favor of nasa's is that for a given size they are narrower being a triangle rather than a lozenges shape so they can "turn over"

Trucks are pricey when building your own board, I've found. However, long ago, I did end up buying a beat up old longboard off of craigslist for $25.

Stumbled upon this topic and figured i would chime in.
My favorite kite for the longboard and the summer winds we have here in Calgary is my access XT 6m tuned for longer brake lines so I can ride unhooked
without the kite stalling trim, set about half.
I prefer longer lines for power on demand. light poles are no problem if you have good kite skills.
As with all aspects of kiting there is a steep learning curve. Take it slow at first,once you master the carving transition it is so effortless and
smooth.
So much fun.
