Stand Up Paddle

Anyone else SUP?

Its a great compliment to kiting because its best enjoyed when the wind is less than 10kt!

If you get an all around board you don't even need waves, you can just tour around on it.

Yep...lots of fun. I use mine to surf the waist and under waves. Anything above that, I'm usually on my shortboard but it is so nice to go paddle to a break where no body goes and get tons of waves all by yourself.

...and I agree, a great compliment to kiting! I have yet to try a downwinder or take it on the river but that is something I would like to try.

I have't done alot of surfing on mine yet but there are a couple of point breaks here that start working when we get the Northerly swells in the winter. One of them peels for nearly a mile at about wasit height. I've ridden it in my kayak a few times. should be perfect for the SUP.

Mostly using the SUP for a fun way to get a workout when the wind isn't blowing. It really works your core muscles eh?

What board/boards do you have? I have a Naish Nalu 11'4"

Oh man, that wave would be sick on an SUP! I'm jealous...on a good wave I'll get maybe two smacks and that's it unless I go to Malibu and try to make friends with 100 other surfers :o

Right now I have a 8'6" SUP Sports (local brand out of Santa Barbara), a 8'10" Starboard Widepoint, a 9' Starboard Hero, a 9'2" Riviera NUGG, a 9'2" Fanatic Allwave and a Rusty 10'4".

I've got a lot of overlap so I'm trying to sell some boards. Once I do, I'm gonna purchase a new Riviera Turbo NUGG and in 2014, probably a 8'10" Allwave. I also want a Ron House 12'6" to cruise the coast, downwinders and picking off the little knee dribblers.

...Yea, I got a serious problem :P

I really want to give it a try. Looks like a good time. Gonna try to jump in on a demo in the city some time.

hahaha crazyh I thought I was getting better but I may SUK any day now. - looks awesome fun. There is a real lack of girls in bikini's in Scotland unfortunately....

Shaggs - yeah go for it man. its really easy to learn. I fell off quite a few times in my first session and then not at all in my second - that was in fairly flat water obviously! But it gives you alot of confidence to start moving around the board, turning harder and faster and start getting in the waves if you are on the coast.

Lunchbox - thats quite a collection! I'm worried about what i'm getting into now. Fortunately the shipping costs of getting a SUP to my little offshore paradise should keep the numbers down!!!
