Finally some static time

riffclown - 13-8-2013 at 01:29 PM

After several days of either shifting or non-existent wind, finally had a decent 10mph afternoon. We got in some good static time with a couple of kites..Heat cut the session a little shorter than I like but hey, an hour with handles in hand and kite in the air beats a lot of the alternatives.

Not the right day for the new 4M though..

Great that you scored some fly time. Just curious though, why not good for the crossfire?

It would have probably been fine. I've flown it a few times before (before it was mine) and I know I need to be prepared to get pulled around a bit. I just didn't want to risk messing up my work clothes if I'd lost my footing. If I'd been in shorts and a T-Shirt, or had my pads, I'd have flown it. :)

I did fly the 2M and that was about the right amount of pull for me today.

LOL, been there!!!... I'm just glad that I have a job where I get dirty, ... that way, when I come in from the fields after my lunch break all sweaty and nasty, it just looks like I've been working even harder

Any time under a kite is good time :D

Thats the great thing about a small fixed bridle foil or a stunt kite. No hassle, no tons of gear. just take it to the park and fly it!

Got some good static time with both Crossfires today.(wore jeans to work). That 4Meter is really going to be a bear when the wind picks up. Looks like I'll have to do some tuning on the bridles though. Like others have mentioned, it likes to luff near the edge of the window so i do have a bit of getting used to it to do..

Today was a good day. 2M and 4M were both a lot of fun to fly. HotAir flew the 4M with me at Lunch and Niexev flew them both with me after work.. Awesome flying time.

What the hell? I didn't realize it was supposed to be directly overhead at all times. I'm doing it wrong :)

I carry my symphony around all the time and I sort of stopped flying it, but this thread made me realize that I should bust it out over lunch breaks like I used to. Also, my MBS pads go right over my work pants and keep them from getting stained. Great investment, those...

Well if you are above it at any time while its flying you ARE doing it wrong - or you are doing some monster mid air downloops! :D. Its definately supposed to be in the air.

I had the same reaction. I used to carry my 3.5 around in the car to just grab half an hour static flying whenever. Its back in the car now and I have had a couple of lunchbreak sessions throwing it around in light wind which have been great fun.
