can anyone give me a list of tricks that are possible while airborn? I'm getting pretty good at jumping. I've done some tricks, such as 360's,
superman's, and some more easy stuff, but i want a bigger challenge. I'm not gunna go off doing backflips yet tho...DON321 - 20-10-2006 at 05:45 PM

i was thinking...what if i did a superman and while still parallel to the ground do a 360? has anyone done that or do you have no clue what im talking
about?jumping_jim - 26-10-2006 at 09:07 AM
yeah it can be done, looks good. Jus try bigger rotations, 720, then 1080. 1080 is the best ive managed, mught be an idea to wear a helmet though cos
when i first tryed a 1080 i landed backwards cos i only got 900 and got pulled back and smacked my head, really hurt even with a helmet on. If your
not gonna go for backflips jus yet, just see how inverted you can get and work up, get parallel, the over parallel, then verticle and you will have
backflips in no time. what kite you using out of interest?ExLax - 26-10-2006 at 01:36 PM
yea, right now im almost at vert so i guess im getting there. Im flying a Flexi Bullet 7m. When you do a flip with the handles, wouldnt you pull the
brake when you are going from vert back to parallel to ground? I dont wanna screw up and pull the brake in the middle of a flip Thanks for the help. I'll get back to flying once my broken finger is healed. In
the meantime, figured i'd plan for tricks.

tbh bullets arnt the best kite for jumping, they are designed for low lift. when you flip you wont pull the brakes, the handles go kinda sideways
naturally, hard to explain, ill try find a vid with someone doing backflipsExLax - 27-10-2006 at 12:55 PM
yea, i found out that they can lift (of course any 7m kite can lift) but they drop hard. I dont get many soft landings unfortunately. After i recover
from the 360's and such i usually get a hard thud on the ground. not cool.jumping_jim - 27-10-2006 at 01:05 PM
i dunno...the new montana II is lookin pretty promising. either that or the reg montana. I'm thinkin about going bigger. around 12-14m kites. bigger
the better!
So when you get lifted 10-20 ft, you have a lot of time before you reach the ground again so what do you do with the kite after it's gone across the
zenith (i guess its called) for the 1st time? do you loop back and go across again? or does it matter cuz i would think it would act as a parachute
once your are lifted and going down. In that case it wouldnt matter where the kite goes. I'm not new, i just forgot to look where my kite was the last
time i did a 20ft jump just preparing myself for when i can fly
again.jonesing4wind - 28-10-2006 at 11:48 PM
I have never gotten above 10 feet, and dont really wish to. So I may not be the best one to give advice, but when I have seen those monster flights
in the snow down the mountain, they are constantly steering the kite to keep it above the pilot. In my very limited experience, I didnt pay attention
to the kit and it got off to the side too much and didnt soften my landing like I hoped it would from 10 feet.

I could be wrong here. I'm speaking from observation rather than experience. It looks to me like if you are flying a "C" kite you must keep it moving
across the window but folks on depoweable foils hang more like a paraglider. Both have to give it a dive at the end to smooth the landing and power
on.
I wonder how you ride out hang time with constant power 4 line foils ( Bullets ? ) ? Any advice ? :bird:jumping_jim - 30-10-2006 at 09:35 AM
when in the air with any kite you have to keep the kite moving abouve your head from side to side, if you just leave it and expect it to parachute you
the it will overfly and collapse, dropping you back to the ground. You redirect once with any jump, if its a big jump jus keep doing it. ive never had
to redirect twice on a jump under 10 foot, 1 is enough reallyExLax - 30-10-2006 at 03:30 PM

use turns that arnt all that close to the edge and dont use break while turning. can use that for some hardcore scudding.
yea so today i flew for the first time in three weeks. I practiced some tricks. im getting pretty good at some of them. It collapsed once and i ran to
take away the slack so i can jerk it back into shape. It opened up in the middle of the power zone before i took away all the slack. it was once of
those moments of extreme whip lash. :!:
