xr+ seat on a flexi buggy

cheezycheese - 31-10-2013 at 09:15 AM

Who has run an xr+ seat on a flexi buggy...? How did it fit. ? Any mods necessary. .?

I put one on mine that I had that I sold to Drewculous. It just straps right on with no mods. The larger straps on the PL seat allow you to pad the rails. I used to get bad bruises on my outer thigh from wedging against the rail. PL seat sits much deeper in the rails too. I'll find you a pic. BTW, Pokitetrash made the same mods to his buggy if you've seen it.

This is Phreerider modeling it for you.

this question is concerning my bug..the seat in question looks to be the one in the top 2 pics..it seams to have more material than the BEC picture..which im guessing to be a stock xr seat??...im thinking the flexi needs a backrest of some sort to have this sling slung correct..or i could be wrong and do not possess the aptitude to do a simple task..flexi has no pads on the rails which would help fill the area so things could be tighter w/ them in place...but in these 3 pics i think those are 2 different seats..no markings on the seat except made in china..i took a seat out of an xr i just got and it is different than the one im asking about...thanks all.

The backrest completed the package for me. I was happy with the buggy after the bigfoot, PL seat, and backrest. It was convenient to roll in the back of the car too. Just had to remove the back wheels and close the door.

I own a flexifoil and have done a lot of research and looked at a lot of pictures of backrests....The key clamps (if you can't weld) are one of the nicest, cleanest applications you can use for a backrest...There are other methods of PVC pipe "T type" that gets attached through the bolt that holds rear axle to the siderails...Then use additional PVC for bends to make the backrest...Bobs "keyclamp" is strongest and nicest looking if you are not having something fabricated (available at McMaster Carr)....There was just a really nice back rest for a flexifoil on Popeye the welders site too....
Original flexi seat was attached to siderails by nylon straps that were actually feed through the siderails...You needed to remove the rear axle to take it on and off....
Van made me a custom seat that I really like..Scott has one too....If you need any pictures of old seats or flexifoil bugs just let me know...

Brucie just remember what ever you are working on, you need to come into the house as often as you can and tell your wife how awesome it is coming out. Then you will have a lot more time to work on it when she finally locks out out of the house!!! :D:P:evil:

trike buggy in California has the original seat. Way better than a PL seat to my mind
