The annual gathering of the ExtremeKites Victorian crew at Sandy Point over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. Weather was fabulous with everything from
4 knot light wind cruising to 35 knots plus squalls and pretty much everything in between. It was a brilliant few days.

Looks like you all had a great time ! Is that beach hard pack enough for ATB and Coyotes?
I guess we better start getting used to seeing single skins chasing down traditional foils and LEI . Gone are the days of the " rag flappers " . John Holgate - 5-11-2013 at 07:31 PM

Sure is. Norm and Mark both have ATB's and Dirtsurfers and were happily cruising most of the way out towards the point.
And yes, I have a definite feeling that there'll be more single skin kites on the beach in the near future. I headed out to the point with my Access
XT 4m in 18-25 knots - it was slow going upwind and the kite was very 'skittish' in the gusty wind. I came back and changed to the 2.5m NS2 which I
felt was much more stable and solid, particularly in the low end. Went upwind just as fast but a few kph slower on the downwind. They just keep
surprising me - particularly when you start looking at prices.
