In light of the recent discussion about the lack of events I'm just curious about who would be interested.
mainekite2 - 9-11-2013 at 11:52 AM
We're in, although I never made it to the original I was planning on it last year
Kober - 9-11-2013 at 12:08 PM
U know I would try very hard to be there ......
buggydanny - 10-11-2013 at 05:23 AM
This is an event that I would definitely make; it would not have to be at the same venue either.

For sure!

I would never attend a reunion that would allow me to attend the first time!
I would be pleased see a good size Winter gathering to socialize, see the collective of gear and all the kiters in a simple 'meet up'
atmosphere. No fee and no insurance needed. A free and open gathering.
The other thread on Lack of Winter kite events discusses NAPKA insurance, but that does not mean any event-winter or summer- need be insured.
Only Sponsored events, or where the local or governing body for the play area has required it, would being able to gather require insurance to
power kite. If we don't know different we are free to all gather on the same day at an area.
The original Kitestorm area was a nice location..but I agree it doesn't have to be same venue. There are many other good locations( large lakes
mostly) for the snow and ice surface. Parking may be a consideration for lots of cars in winter. Hopefully not.
And I think the Canadians will come!
...... bring it on!

I would be interested but thats a looong drive
snowspider - 11-11-2013 at 11:41 AM
Been there ,done that ,and would do it again! A tad further south would be nice but Sandbar is pretty sweet!
crabnebula - 12-11-2013 at 07:19 PM
I ll go but if the lake is pure ice I'm not interested,
ce n'est pas mon truc.
But if there is snow sure
Also depends on dates and potential conflicts, with this years KiteFreeOrDie event on March 1-2 2014..... Tug hill invitational February 15-17 2014,
and all the events out west I might not be around
power - 14-11-2013 at 06:00 AM
I wouldnt miss it.
Why would you not have it at the sandbar?? Kinda wouldnt be the same.
Is there any thought of bringing the event back for good???
What would it take to bring it back. I think that was one of the best events on the US east coast. Ive asked before and never got a responce.
Is there really going to be a Tugg hill event this year?? I dont know whats going on up there but it always seems last minute. Has never compaired to
Kitestorm. Great location though.
Im ready, Bring on winter, let the snow pile up.

No restrictions on 'meeting up' at Sandbar- as far as I know...
Why the original Kitestorm-if it had or needed liability coverage(I think it did)....may be because it's official-ness of being an event at the park.
Someone more in the know might clarify...?
But for the respect of the past organizer who had responsibility (or any liability) we should not call ANY gathering there, 'Kitestorm' , or do
anything 'officially' that creates need for permit, license or insurance needs.
Remember.. we are just some individuals who all happened to show up on same day at a free open area. (what a coincidence!) We are NOT any event or
organized group.
Just a stop over on the Flying Freak Fantasy Freeze Festival Tour(Shhhhh! Keep this to yourself.) .... and speaking of stops....
....So.....Tug Hill event is definitely happening? info about this year's event? I could not find any on web.
This had some kind of legal problems(as we've inferred on PKF Forum about having 'events') and was cancelled last year.
Anyone know the story or info?
abkayak - 14-11-2013 at 08:07 AM
wow....Sandbar?? i wouldn't touch that w/out locals..i have never stood on ice other than a rink..i would like to visit the Northern Kingdom if they'd
have me...
Feyd - 14-11-2013 at 08:44 AM
Kitestorm was fully insured and given permits to be held at Sandbar
If an event were to be held again it could not be called Kitestorm w/o the consent of Rachael Miller owner of the former Stormboarding kite school and
host Kitestorm.

Guys are working on Tug Hill permits right now and talking to new county reps . Hope to see it happening. It would be awesome to have 3 snow events
on east coast ...
