  1. Generally fewer vent holes
  2. Vent plugs or similar method of blocking ventilation during the coldest weather
  3. Clip at the back of the helmet for goggle strap retention
  4. Either the shell comes down over the ears or there are removable ear flaps

Product Pages:
Bern Berkley Shredready Forty4

The Berkley is listed as Summer/Winter due to the removable 360° fleece liner inside.

The liner impacts sizing slightly and on the product page, there is a sizing guide for Summer/Winter use.

The Forty4 seems like it uses vent plugs so sizing isn't impacted as much and the ear pads are removable for warm weather or for swapping out with Tune-Up ear pads that allow you to listen to audio while using the helmet.

However, it doesn't specifically say non-snow use.

The Berkley meets meets ASTM F 2040, CPSC and EN 1078 standards for bike and skate use.

The Forty4 meets ASTM 2040 snow sports helmet standard.

There's another thread about safety standards, what they mean and how large a salt dose you should read them with.

Asking price is less than 1/3 of what these helmets normally go for.

Hope that helps.

ATB,
Sam
