Finally got a session in

shaggs2riches - 15-12-2013 at 02:22 PM

Today I woke up to a big break in the -30 weather and a beautiful wind forecast. Got up and packed right away! Wind meter read 18-27km/h when I setup my 12m. I had a flustered start, but five minutes later it was perfect. Nice decent runs up and down the field for almost an hour. My legs were really burning, but I wanted to get some jumps in. Took a ten minute sit down and went out again. First jump was a nice 5 footer to get me feeling it. After that I made several jumps ranging from 5-10 feet. My last jumps were the biggest and most controlled I've ever felt in the air. Ended up being a good two hour session. A few hours later my whole body is starting to ache, sign of a great workout. I managed to remember the go pro this time, so hopefully some turned out good. I'm sure glad that there is still loads of winter ahead of us.

Nice start to your winter riding! I concur, it's not much fun when the air is so cold it hurts to breath. Glad your temps have warmed up a bit

Cool, great to get a break in that damn cold eh! Sounds like you avoided the nukin' winds we had today in the south. 90-110kph sustained all day, well blow me down!

I chose fishing instead of kiting today and it took 5 ice screws to keep my shack from becoming a kite. Glad you got good wind!

Yes I had a great morning that's for sure. This afternoon it was gusting to 60km till around 7 then it tapered off. I gotta invest in a couple more gopro cameras, cuz the video I got was really really dull other than my few jumps and bails.

Hard to capture the experience and feeling on cam sometimes. Nothing bums me out like pulling something off or have a spectacular crash, getting it on camera and then reviewing the footage and it looks like nothing's even happening.

Then sometimes the most mundane stuff looks awesome. :D

Glad you got out and had a killer first session!

I know we all like to show off our "cool" stuff, but honestly, I love watching bails just as much!

My wife and I also got our first taste of the snow Sunday afternoon. Wind and temp were both 10 (mph and Fahrenheit), and though I spent the whole time helping her re-learn depower and snowboard, it was still great to get out again.
