I too am blessed with lots of time off work to enjoy family and kiting. I hope it is not too hot down under; I hear there is a heat wave with temps up to 45C. We have escaped the -45C wind chill for now but it will be back.

Yeah! I'm on break now until after Christmas too, Merry Christmas everyone and I hope the wind comes up while I have some time off! Not too cold, really, but totally dead for wind.

Working in a church's facilities dept. means its BUSY time for me,... We've spent the entire last week scrubbing, pressure washing, and generally cleaning the outside of our bazillion square foot building as well as repairing doors, paint touch up, window washing etc. As well as getting the inside of the building ready.

6 Christmas Eve services also means I have to work Christmas Eve from 2:00 to 10:00 pm... BUMMER :no: (which is unfortunate, but I used to have to work until 1:00 am).

I'm off Christmas Day,... but the 26th (since it won't be busy) we are refinishing our 15,000 sq ft gymnasium floor. Then I'm off Friday.

Hi Alasdair, how's it going ? Those winds sound great but I have to be honest they also terrify me. I haven't been in the buggy since April and I don't feel confident enough. I need to get some time under a kite before such a challenge.

A 100mph tho, wow!

I have been listening to the weather on the radio. It sounds pretty wild up there at the moment. Merry Christmas and stay safe!

We have it bad here in East Sussex too. Trees blocking most of my route to work tonight and floods up to the car door. Exciting stuff! Driving under fallen trees scraping the car roof. Gatwick airport where I work, flights redirected. Driving along the M23, the huge blue motorway signage for the airport ( 20ft high and 10ft wide and probably weighing 1/4 a tonne ) just up and disappeared and nobody knows where it's gone!

Home now but it's still blowing a serve gale outside. If it's still like this at the weekend then I'll hit the beach me thinks. :lol:
