Here where I am in DE we were only supposed to get 2-4 inches. We got that in the first three hours. It supposed to snow till 9am and we have 4 on the
ground now. Boston NJ and NY gonna get hammered!
Have fun in the snowskimtwashington - 2-1-2014 at 09:25 PM
Cheddar head is wrong.....this time.
We have the cold and the snow. Unusually cold storm. Right now it's just below zero and getting lot of snow.
I will have Utah champagne powder in MA- but it's tough kiting in-5 to -20 wind chill.
I wish I could use mittens instead of gloves but it's too difficult to control handles for FB.
Part of the trouble is when your squeezing(holding) the handles you are compressing the insulation on palm side of fingers.
Gonna miss the sweet ice we had. Easier to deal with light little skates than big boots and skis.
But kiting the powder will be quite fun :wee:ssayre - 2-1-2014 at 11:49 PM
We have a fair amount of snow and getting more this weekend. Went skiing for the firt time today (downhill. No kite). I think skis would work well
with my fb kites. Looking foward to trying it if I can find some skis to borrow. skimtwashington - 3-1-2014 at 04:19 AM

Today is going to be in the high 40's and sunny. Last night it rained more than the entire months average.
You all are more than welcome to send as much of your snow as you want to us here on the west coast. Snow is always better than rain or fog.
May have to go play outside with the grandkids.Kober - 3-1-2014 at 09:07 AM

Received 13" here on Cape Cod plus 50mph winds- gave the Golf Cart with plow a real good workout!shehatesmyhobbies - 3-1-2014 at 02:29 PM
We got about 9 inches with the temps sitting at 6 deg. Winds were 20-25 with gust to 35 making it very cold. Not canada cold but Delaware coldmainekite2 - 3-1-2014 at 03:17 PM
Hard to say how much snow we got, been to wind to tell. 6 -10 anywayFeyd - 3-1-2014 at 05:08 PM
Long has 1' of pow on it. Watch out for slush though. In these temps it snap freezes and you have 20lbs of ice in an instant. Ride the Causeway for
the safest ice.

I rode Long Lake on Wednesday, and it was in great shape. 4-6" powder on more than 6" of ice (that's as far as my
ice screw goes) the ice fisherman were looking at 8" so they said. The storm dropped 10" on top of that so we shall see what today brings. The only
slush that I encountered was in the snowmobile tracks and that was minor and mostly frozen. My ski tracks showed no slush. Sebago @ Jordan Bay has
frozen with 2" of ice reported Tuesday by Pat Keeley. It has been brutally cold since then so it is making ice. I'll be scouting it at some point
today. Feyd - 4-1-2014 at 07:20 AM
That walk down the staircase is the worst. :D Might have gotten another inch since Tuesday but the snow will have locked down any further ice making.
I wonder how water district is doing.
Thanks for the head's up on Jordan Ted, have fun out there.
Right kite makes stable fight and tiny bit o'height

Snow kiting!
Friday was pretty poor because of up and down and shifty wind...but today....
Great riding on windpack( not too stiff to crumble to powder) with a
5.6 Twister in 5- 20+ mph unsteady winds that still yielded 80% constant movement( soooo much more than yesterday) and some really fast runs when it
picked up and/or gusted. Skis and me got just off the ground at times (sore back keeping me mostly grounded). Shredded my town's lake while many
Townies drove by getting an eyeful. (It's a main road thru town around lake)
Kite might have made the difference today. 5.6 Twister has enough power and stability to stay up in low winds(not collapse or bowtie) AND handle
higher winds.... and even handle gusts pretty well.
Very happy with day.
No pics or viddy. Anyone else got pics?Feyd - 4-1-2014 at 06:06 PM
Bah! We we're too far into the tail end of the storm. Our wind forecast was a little bit over stated and we did a lot of static flying with 15m and
bigger today. Beautiful day to spend hanging out on the ice. Wish I was an ice fisherman on days like today.
That's awesome the you got out. 3hrs south makes a world of difference. Sounds
like you had an killer day, tough but fun.
Ted, Umby has 16" of ice with about 8" wind packed. Not sure what Monday is going to do to it tho. No wind there tomorrow unless you're on a big
wing.
