Hey guys and gals. Angus is checking in for a pretty serious procedure day after tomorrow. It's an elective surgery he's put off for years until
it's really necessary.
I know many of you will offer your support and well wishes electronically, but his wife made a special request to get a few of his friends to send get
well cards to his home to be waiting for him when he returns. I think this is a fantastic idea since having a card you can hold in your hand, have
physically visible, and reread whenever you'd like to has a high value for someone with a steep road to recovery ahead of him.
Angus has given a lot to us in the power kiting sport with his tutorials and his eagerness to meet us at the beach to learn from him or try out gear.
And then there is that little event called JIBE he puts on for us and the turtles. Let's take this opportunity to give something back to him with a
small effort of sending him a card to support his recovery. Let's let him be surprised at the response from the kite community.
His address is provided on the Coastal Wind Sports website in the "about us" link, or I can provide it to you privately if you would like.

The wind Gods have looked over him and pulled him through to a safe recovery. Maybe his new tat worked?
Glad to hear the good news. acampbell - 13-1-2014 at 02:37 AM
Hey gang sorry to be off the radar for some time. I can't thank you all enough for the well wishes and support; really means a lot.
I've long been bothered by a congenital heart defect that limited blood flow from the heart to the lungs, making me weak under certain conditions.
Treated it with meds for many year but hit the wall last year. I knew it was bad when I had to sit out a kite session on Jekyll Island with Soliver
here last September because I did not have the stamina to haul my gear on and off the beach.
Flash forward a few months and here I am 3 1/2 days out of open heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic in OH. The surgeon said all went well and I should
be mostly recovered in 8 weeks, returning for clerical work whenever I want before then. I am in about the best place in the world for this
particular procedure and so am in good hands. Helps having Joan here too! I should be home Saturday.
Of course JIBE 2014 is a go and I'll be up for it!!
Thanks again so much everybody. As my wife Joan said to me "you sure do have a lot of nice friends". BigMikesKites - 13-1-2014 at 04:08 AM
Glad to hear you are doing well. bigkid - 13-1-2014 at 07:48 AM
.........As my wife Joan said to me "you sure do have a lot of nice friends".
It's obvious Joan hasnt met most of us.
glad to hear you are much better, and we expect to see you dragging your buggy and your butt to the beach a bit more now that this is over.
You do have one special wife my friend, I hope she is feeling better also. I would tell you to give her a hug for us, but for the time being a wink
and a kiss on the cheek will be OK.
Heal up and let us know how the PT works outCheddarhead - 13-1-2014 at 08:59 AM
So happy and relieved that everything went as planned:D Now here's to a short and productive road to recovery Hope you'll be out kiting soon! Take care my friend.Feyd - 13-1-2014 at 09:31 AM
Scary stuff getting your seams split. Scarier when it's for something critical like your ticker.
Glad it went well, here's to a speedy recovery.BeamerBob - 13-1-2014 at 09:56 AM
We do have a great bunch of friends here! Welcome back Angus. soliver - 13-1-2014 at 01:37 PM
I knew it was bad when I had to sit out a kite session on Jekyll Island with Soliver here last September because I did not have the stamina to haul my
gear on and off the beach.
I remember that day, I was bummed you couldn't ride, but even more concerned for for you. I never realized that was the beginning of it!
I've been keeping up with Joan's updates and we are so glad everything went so well. We've been praying for you for a couple of weeks now, and I'm
super excited to see you again at JIBE!abkayak - 13-1-2014 at 01:52 PM

Good your on road back to full health! :D acampbell - 20-1-2014 at 12:55 PM
Got home this weekend. Went to neighbors yesterday to get the mail they had been collecting for us and they were like "Oh crap, look how many cards
you got!" I just had to say "kite peeps" and they got it. Thanks again everyone. We had a great read and the Percoset allowed me to laugh out loud
without pain.
Healing is fast (I'm at work now) so I should be ready for the beach about the time the first sea-breeze clocks around.
Staying in Cleveland for 2 weeks in January really reminded me what a winter is like. You guys stay warm up there!!!
