Recommendations for budget depower

Just want to know the cheapest way to do depower?

New?...HQ Apex, 'nuff said. You could also troll the for sale section here for a bit and find some good deals. I have both the ozone Access and HQ Apex and an very happy with both. Ozone has a "cleaner" bar but past that both are fairly equal performance wise....a great place to start with depower.

Cheapest route is going to be picking up a rig with some miles on it.

FWIW: Trying to go too cheap is going to come back to bite you in the a$$ either in terms of time, money, or safety.

In addition to the kites being sold in the For Sale section, we're getting to that time of year where the new models are coming out and dealers sell off their older demos. Some of the demos are lightly used but marked down significantly because of demo status and they are last year's model. Still a whole of life left in them and year to year changes in kites are generally incremental.

Sam

Budget Depower I thought those were opposites.. I agree with seeing what pops up on the For Sale section.. Used will be a better choice than cheap the majority of the time. I'm not a depower guy but I have had very good results purchasing from the for sale section..

Would you guys recommend a secondhand HQ Apex then?

Terrakiter has a great 7.5 Apex II in the for-sale section....Lots of great reviews on this kite and people seem to enjoy it...good price, ready to fly and shipping included....

I'm also with Indigo Wolf on cheapest isn't always best or smartest decision....Need more info on your abilities and the main thing you will be using the kite for....these play a big part in the decision/buying process....

Good day Bruce. "LeydanWarrior" has 2 similar threads rolling. His parameters: landboard, usually 15mph winds, gusty. Though I'm not totally certain if it's gusty averaging 15 or... a base 15 gusting up from there.

Can't go wrong with the Apex 2 if it's in good shape.

LeydenWarriors - 15-1-2014 at 03:53 PM

It's normally averaging 15 mph but with much stronger gusts. -when I want information I always come here, you guys know your stuff ;-)

You could also consider an Arc or an LEI - both are generally good in gusty conditions. With Arcs you can go all the way back to 2005 or so and get safe kites with good performance. My 2005/6 Venom is still one of my favourite land board kites in 13 - 20+ mph. You can pick Arcs up quite cheap RTF.

LEI is a bit more of a risk. I would not really advise looking at anything older than 2009 or 2010 but you can get some reall bargains from then. Do plenty of research to make sure you understand the variety of kites out there.
