very blessed to have all of my fingers

This morning I did something very stupid. My son got his car stuck in the snow in the alley that runs behind our house on his way to school. I have a truck so I went to pull him out. I didn't have a tow rope but I did have a rats nest of some 1/2" poly rope in the garage. I wanted to cut off a 10' piece to make a tow rope. This is where I got into trouble. I was in our detached garage and my utility knife was in the house. I didn't have anything to cut it with in the garage and I was in a hurry so I thought I would try my miter saw. I knew it was a bad idea but the rope was pretty rigid and plastic like so I thought it might work. All I remember was as soon as the saw touched the rope the saw bound up and I had intense pain in the fingers of the hand that was holding the rope. I reluctantly took off my mangled glove and was happy to see my fingers were still there but it felt and looked like I smashed my middle finger with a hammer. It happened so fast I'm not sure what exactly happened. The moral of the story, don't cut rope with a power saw. I think that goes without saying but evidently I needed reminding. Anyways, I'm just happy that all I have is some very soar fingers.

Put a snap blade in your glove compartment, and let us never speak of this again.

On the plus side you didn't melt the poly rope to flashpoint and have it ignite underneath the miter saw guard.

Sam

Most of my armature arm wrestling bouts involved drilling , grinding usualy involves high amperage motors to the ribs or stomach , bending big iron has taken bricks out of a wall just missing my head off my shoulders , power saws knock on wood no confrontations. You got lucky

Being in a hurry always leads to those "what the h€77 was I thinking moments... My thumb became very well acquainted with my bandsaw blade once... And don't weld wearing an old furry wool sweater, It will catch on fire :o
