MBS Core 95 from 8" to 10" wheels

loftywinds - 12-2-2014 at 08:53 PM

Hi guys,
I've asked this in another forum, but I thought I would ask here to get your opions as well.
I am still trying to do this and change my 8" MBS tyres to 10" anything (MBS, tranny tyres, trolley tyres, etc etc anything that will work)

Has anyone here done this and how exactly? I have the standard MBS Core 95 board with 9.5mm ID and 28mm OD bearings if that helps.

Ideally if I could just replace the tyres and tubes without changing the Twistar hubs to another hub, all the better.

Thank you in advance.

I have the MBS T2 9" tires with tri-spokes on my 95X. Same bearings.
Anything larger and my feet would rub the tires...but there's a noticeable improvement on beach riding (about 1/3 more usable beach over the 8")

The tip shape doesn't do the MBS boards any favors with regards to wheel rub.

Plummet runs granny tires, but his deck has more taper and his DEX trucks (now discontinued) push the axle and wheels further out away from the board and the dreaded wheel rub.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Sam.

Yes the BUT question!

I might create my own truck extensions to get around that problem.

Never the less my problem is where to get those "granny" tyres from. Seriously.. where!? Plummet? Can you help me please?

Thanks

I am thinking about ordering these tires.

1/2 more narrow may provide just enough clearance to minimize rub.

Plummet is an active member at http://forum.kitecrowd.com/. Yould post there and I'm sure he'd respond. I think he posted plans of how he built the board one time or maybe he just posted comments to help someone else build a similar setup.

Kodiak...I've done some of this research, and found the scooter tires are HEAVY...Also looked at hand-truck/dolly tires...
I rolled on some 10" hand truck tires...but the side-load totally jacked the hubs...

Ultimately, the MBS T2 tires and hub setup won with weight and bearing match, strength and just over all durability.

Yes...I know it's a bit more....but worth every dime in my opinion.

I have got some trampa nine inches - definetly a lot bigger tire and beefy hub. okay for grass fields but not soft sand

Crazyherb what are the numbers (size) of those tires. I didn't stop to think that the hubs are not going to hold a wider tire and if it did fit it would be some extra strain.

The T2 tires won't fit on the basic 8" hubs correct?

Thanks,
