Russian Balls

Watched this program on pbs the other night about building the Shanghai Tower and then found this vid,

http://www.dvice.com/2014-2-13/gopro-video-two-guys-climb-wo...

Was a bit tough watching until the end but the end was the hardest to stomach. Just standing there, huge balls.

I saw that last week. It was stunning.

There's a new series on channel 4 here in the UK called 'Don't Look Down' which I haven't seen yet but hope to catch up on.
It looks pretty scarey. There are some trailers for it on YouTube. Check it out.

Don't Look Down

Holy Crap. No way I could override the fear of going out on that structure. I would lock up for sure. A parachute might make it easier, but I'm not sure. I've rappelled from 165 foot cliffs without issue, but I'd have a hard time getting past the fear of not being protected.

I totally almost puked :barf:

Roofers.... think someone posted some of their other videos on Xtremekites last year.

Making the rounds on FB now.

Since the videos are posted and they have a blog... kind of surprised the property owners are going after them.

Not going to be pretty when something goes South... physically or legally.

Sam

I don't know why but I was 1/2 expecting them to base jump at the end.

I have to think climbing back down was just as big a challenge. :o

I would bet it was more challenging. I'm a roofing estimator and it always seems harder getting back down then going up on the challenging jobs.

Yikes. That's just plain crazy - especially at the end when he's just standing there without a care like he's 2" off the ground.

when I was a young framer I would walk the peaks of trusses as they swayed a foot or two back and forth and as high as 40 feet while the crane swooped in with another truss. I was considered crazy at the time but now seems pretty sane compared to some of these daredevils today.

ice kiter - 23-2-2014 at 01:34 PM

as I see this the kitesurfers a hundred times more accidents are caused than the illegal climbers or base jumpers today (and they fight with the sunbathing ones much more) -that real extremsport when it is necessary to overcome 100 kg of the father of the child who over was run

I found that even hard to watch just sitting in my office chair 18" off the carpet! I'm now short of breath ah! to be young and fearless.

bigkid - 24-2-2014 at 04:31 PM

I watched it again and it was harder the second time because I knew what was coming.
Still can't decide if they're stupid, ballsy, totally insane, or missing every possible live brain cell they ever had.

doneski - 24-2-2014 at 04:56 PM

Big balls but not sure how bright they are. Why cover your face and attempt to hide your identity then post your names? Why climb with absolutely no safety equipment?

ice kiter - 26-2-2014 at 12:27 PM

It's go as soon as on the rock, it's so correckt . the safety gears give any fols sense of security. makes you believe it, that you are capable onto him. though without rope already on 50 feet tall you would #@%$#! yourself , and you would not dare to reach for the next catch longer .you would adhere to the stone than a foszil while the helpers arrive .
