Hi all, I am new to this site and new to Kiting. I am just curious if there are many landboard and/or snow kiters within, say, 3 hours of Rochester,
NY that meet up or know some good spots to ride. That also wouldn't mind showing me a few things, or know a good instructor..
I have quite a bit of practice hooked in on my Prism Tensor 3.1, apex ion harness and mbs comp 90. I am obsessively looking for my first depower kite,
but am too overwhelmed with the options and lack of hands-on knowledge.
I look forward to meeting new people in this awesome and addicting sport!

Thanks! I just joined their group on FB as well as the WNY group.
I will definitely be looking into the lessons you mentioned! I appreciate the suggestions!
Do you know - do most places that do lessons generally specialize in just snow or just water or just land? Or do most places incorporate what you
prefer to learn on? I can inquire about that as I look into the lessons of coarse.

Welcome Shaina03....I live in Avon which is about 20 minutes from Rochester...there are a couple of us (kiters) pretty close by but you are the 1st
one this close...I have a ton of spots to fly and although I am not a rookie by any means, I still seem to learn something every time I go out....I
would love to meet you and help you out with whatever you need. You will find a ton of people on this forum too that are full of information/knowledge
and willing to help you out as well.
Please look into Wildwood as this event is coming up....You will learn a ton, get to try out some kites and equipment and if you don't have fun there,
then you should sell all your kites and get out of the sport....
.....This is a
must do event.....
Shehatesmyhobbies can set you up with info on this event...there is also a heading on our forum for just this event, as well as one on Facebook.....
I'll give you a couple days to look this over...get some questions ready etc.....Again welcome to PKF and one of the best sports around.
Bruce
and if you hear any rumors from Dave, flyguy0101 or shehatesmyhobbies about screaming like a girl....they are all TRUE...I love my kites, friends who
fly and going fast....

I was sooo incredibly excited when I googled "Wildwood Kite Festival" and saw that it was going on when I would be in NYC anyway, and would definitely
be able to attend! I checked out hotels and things to do in the area. Then I thought, wait you said it was happening soon. I'll be in NYC in May. Upon
further research, I realized I was looking at the 'regular kite' International Kite Festival. Rookie Mistake - fml!
Needless to say, I feel like I just put my cat down (I like the dog better) or a tree fell on my caddy! Not quite, but I feel I'm missing out on a
great experience none the less. I will be in, returning from or heading to Vegas around the end of April. I hope to learn a lot out there though, so
not all is lost. But if for any reason what so ever this trip gets postponed, or I do well out there monetarily...I will be in NJ with bells on!! (via
atlantic city for a round or 12 at the craps table.)
Im thrilled to find riders nearby, keep in touch and I'll head down your way to watch and learn a few things one of these days you plan to ride.
Kober- thanks for the links, I have visited a couple of them before, and definitely plan on grabbing a lesson in the very near future.
flyguy0101- yeah tell me about it! It was so windy and I was sick all weekend!! I literally watched the tree branches swaying outside my window like a
grounded kid watching my friends play outside without me. It was quite messy out there though that's for sure!

Hey guys I am new to this whole kiting thing and live in buffalo anybody ever come up to the waterfront around here to fly. BEC I use to work in avon
as the youth pastor at Avon Wesleyan ever heard of it

Good morning! I guess there are quite a few people that go out on Lake Erie. I haven't made it out there yet, but I plan to when the weather warms
up. Are you on Facebook? Add the page WNY windsurfing, kiteboarding, SUPing. They often post wind conditions when and where they go out.

I'm a bit farther north, in Lewis Co. Tug Hill has been sponsoring a snow kite event each year for the past 7 years, now being held over the
Presidents Day Holiday weekend. We have several farmers that let us ride their open hayfields during the winter. I often go to Southwick Beach State
Park, on the Eastern shore of Lake Ontario in spring thru fall to kite buggy. I often see guys out on the lake kiteboarding. I know it would be
quite a drive to get here from Buffalo, but if you should ever be coming this way, feel free to U2U or e-mail me, would love to meet up and let you
try out my gear.

Oh, by the way, pastorbudwine, welcome to the forum, and the most fun you are likely to have hooked to a kite!
