Shaking the lurker off

Wow time flies. Seems like FOREVER since typing into this little box here...and indeed it has been! Thought I should let everyone know there's still a kiter in Edmonton.

Well...a guy with kites anyway

The move, weird work schedule, kids, epic snow RUINED for the third year in a row by rains and mild weather...all of it stacks up to little to no kiting at the hands of yours truly. I'd be lying if at some point I didn't look at the kite kloset and think "I sure have been thinking a lot about paragliding lately".......This was always followed up by a resounding "ARE YOU CRAZY?! YOU CAN'T SELL OFF YOUR KITE GEAR!"

Mostly because I've yet to scratch the surface of my gears' full potential (and I'm no quitter), but partly because a few of those beauties are far more valuable to me than I could ever hope to get on the used market and of course partly because the wife might have a harder time condoning PPGing than she does my kiting. Can't imagine why:puzzled:

Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know I've still been lurking here almost every other day - just not flying much and not feeling like I have much to contribute these days. Spring sessions are coming, and hopefully spring snows so I should be able to rub some wax off something strapped to my feet. Sure miss the bliss......

Glad to know you are stick kicking. Two hours down HWY.16 my kiting has been non existent for over a month. The warm spells killed the snow down to dirt fields. Any snow left turned to solid crusty ice patches. Now that we have had some snow fall again, this -30c (-38 to -45 windchill) has made it just as terrible to kite. Two more weeks and the forecast should smarten up and hopefully make things kite able for a little bit (till it completely melts for the year).

I know the feeling. Last time I kited was last summer. With graduate school I am on here but post so rarely that I keep getting logged off and don't even know it. I am headed to Seaside in March and hope I still remember what to do. I have to try my new speed 3 so hopefully there is a good day for it.

Good to hear from you macboy! I hope we can get you active again in March.

The Arctic air has to leave us alone soon, but there could be good snowkiting on Ghost & Spray past the May long weekend....

Macboy has a nice field across from his house, I'll go over and give him a kick in the butt to get him started again
