After a 10 year restoration involving a dozen craftsmen from The North Shrewsbury Ice Boat Club in Red Bank NJ, The Rocket, a First Class Ice Yacht
built in 1888, sailed for the first time in over 100 years this past weekend. 50' long, 900 sq.ft. of sail, over 2000 lbs., and capable of speeds over
100mph. The Rocket and a similar Yacht, The Jack Frost will be back on The Hudson going head to head this weekend. Wish I could be there. Amazing and
historic event.
These mamouth ice boats are the only two remaining in the world.
