looks like great trip - Sharm El Sheik is another place I've always wanted to get to for kiteboarding and a holiday.
thanks for posting the video

Hey Markite,

Yes its well worth a visit.

The wind kicks in early morning and mostly (but not always) drops off in the afternoon so there is planty of time for hanging out and doing the tourist thing or family activities.

9 to 12m is the most useful kite size (LEI) but having a big kite in your quiver extends your days. I took 9/12/15 and only once wished for a 7. Had 13 windy days in 15

Looks awesome! How deep is the water?

lives2fly - 4-4-2014 at 06:47 AM

It can get a bit sketchy near to shore at low tide but generally you can choose to ride in the shallow part which is knee to chest deep or there is a big deep pool inside the lagoon on the South side where you can't touch the bottom.

There is a wave spot upwind you can walk to or if the water is high enough you can kite over the reef to open sea and get there in 3 or 4 big upwind tacks.

looks nice, all flat super deluxe. current?

lives2fly - 7-4-2014 at 02:53 PM

yeah very current. March 2014

PHREERIDER - 7-4-2014 at 06:38 PM

tidal/water current?, indeed recent as you said. we have spots like that but riddled with current flow

lives2fly - 8-4-2014 at 03:08 AM

hahaha! sorry I misunderstood!

No there was nothing at all that I noticed. The tides are not very big in the Red Sea so there is nothing to generate noticable movement. They were as big as they get when I was there and there was still only 0.5m range!

The only way you notice the tide is it gets choppy out by the reef as the tide comes in...

The lagoons I ride at home in Scotland are really tidal. with outflow currents up to 12 knots on a big outgoing tide. not fun at all if you drop your board! We only ride them when the tide is coming in!

PHREERIDER - 8-4-2014 at 06:02 AM

we have about 7-10 ft tides twice daily, so lotta flow.

in front its present but not that big a deal unless it running with NE,

but the backside is flat and rides are current dependent unless its like 30knts +
