Phantom IIs for sale REDUCED: 6m, (9m and 12m SOLD)

BeamerBob - 6-4-2014 at 11:05 AM

It's time for an upgrade and I'm selling my Phantom II set. Each kite comes with original spars and kite bag. I have a large and small Navigator bar that can go with the set or first come first served if kites sell individually. Kites are priced without the bar.

The 6 and 9m sizes are kites I only got out when the wind was too much for my 12m. So the 9m would come out if winds were gusting above 27 mph or so, and the 6m if gusting above 35 mph. The quality of winds I get in this range is usually very poor and thus the smaller kites were usually needing a lot of attention. If you are flying on a beach or inland in calmer conditions where you don't want to be lit up with power, these kites are sure to please. The Phantom IIs are very efficient low grunt kites. They provide manageable power and go upwind like crazy. Even flying with other arcs, such as Venoms and Scorpions, my best line with the wind always put me 100-200 yards upwind after a mile or so run across the lakebed.

Nav bars $150 each. Large Nav bar is sold. These are both the second version bar that has equal length lines and through the bar safety. Not the "Y" line setup for the front lines. Lines show some evidence of use but nothing is approaching needing replacement IMHO. These are only available separately if the kites sell without bars.

6m Black and Red - $450 REDUCED TO $400. Used less than 10 sessions. No repairs or damage other than a possible scuff on a spar end. Mildly dusty.

9m Black and Green - $500 REDUCED TO $450 SOLD. Used maybe a dozen times. This kite has a small professional repair on the leading edge about a foot from the right tip. The damage came from a line wrapping around the tip on a landing. Repair is solid and pucker free and is about 3-4 inches long. It does not compromise flying characteristics of the kite.

12m Black and Red - $550 SOLD This has been my go to Arc size at Ivanpah. it has an incredible wind range and flies rock steady. I've flown this kite up to 32 mph gusts but not on purpose. In steady winds it's good up to 28 mph. Above that and it won't allow me to turn upwind to slow down. I've gone 59.4 mph with this kite. It has a few tiny pinholes near the left spar from launching . One was large enough (maybe 1/16th inch) I felt it was a good idea to put some clear tape on it. Since I first noticed the kite getting these pinholes, I always launched from a piece of carpet which stopped the abrasion and the few pinholes haven't gotten larger nor has it developed any more. I'm confident this does not affect flight or inflation. I didn't tape the other few holes because they are so small. There are also some scuffs on the spar pocket, but PL did a great job making these robust to begin with so they are fully functional.

I wouldn't mind having a 12 back in my hands.. :)

Too bad I'm lacking the funds! Good luck with the sale. The Phantom 1 was an amazing kite!

Yikes nice opportunity! May have to get home and reassess my quiver. That 6 is a rare prize.

would like one of the bars if you sell any kites without one.

BeamerBob - 6-4-2014 at 04:19 PM

12 m is sold pending payment tomorrow. It is selling without the bar. I'd need to see if any potential buyer of the 9m would like the bar, then the large might be available. I typically used he large bar exclusively on the 12m and the small bar on the 9 and 12.

Rhurst, which bar are you interested in if one becomes available?

rhurst - 6-4-2014 at 06:52 PM

well I just bought the 6m p2 from geokite so a small would be best. Wish I had known could have just bought package from you.

The interest in his 6m is what pushed me to list mine. I think these 6m PIIs are the only ones in the US.

12m is sold. The large Nav bar is now available separately.

What are the bar lengths and line lengths for the small and large bars?

BeamerBob - 10-4-2014 at 07:33 PM

The small is convertible from 45-55 cm and the large is either 55 or 65 cm, with 20m and 23m flying lines respectively.

Original post modified to reflect reduction in price. Didn't mention it above but shipping is included for continental US. Shared shipping elsewhere.

I'd like a crack at the small nav bar if the kites get scooped up without it. Come on lets see these kites go! =P These small bars are in demand tho!

Does the phantom work better with a larger bar compared to the venoms? The large bar (60cm) I have that I use for my 19, when using with the 13 feels very off.

BeamerBob - 11-4-2014 at 06:19 AM

I've always flown the 9 and 6 on the small bar in the 45cm position and the phantoms are easy to loop with that size bar.

BeamerBob - 11-4-2014 at 11:13 AM

Large bar is sold.

BeamerBob - 21-4-2014 at 08:18 AM

9m and small bar are sold.
