I'm going to get a new kite, I'm going to get a new kite, can't wait!
I still might get an chance to try out the 8m on the lake yet this year, the lake is down 8 feet yet so the remaing ice on the lake is on the lake
bottom. I think I will put on a life jacket anyway just to be on the safe side.
It rained all night the lake looks like junk

It would be great to get more people involved, it is more fun to kite with others, you will love that 11m, that is the kite I use the most.

What’s the safety like on the ranger – is it a top hat or flag out, I can’t recall. How much of a low wind kite do you think that is compared to a
14m frenzy from say 2008? I've never flown the ranger but given my weight I've always wondered if an 8/12 combo would be better than my 10/14.

safety system on ranger is essentially non-existant, as was the case for most slingshot kites of that era. It's just not a very good bar, IMO. Put
it on a ozone bar with a top-hat flag out and you are worlds better than what slingshot shipped the kite with.

The stock safety as Erratic said was hardly a safety. Even for a kite of that era it was not much. We came up with the 4.5 line and made it a lot
safer and a lot less sketchy when riding in variable conditions. The 12m is a powerhouse. Can't compare to the 14m '08 Frenzy but it flies a hell of
a lot better than the '06 14m Frenzy. (god that thing was a dog)
The 12m, modded is a good light wind machine for sure. I'm 210-220 in the winter and it was my go to many times for light wind. Has a very nice
"Flysurfer-esque" jumping nature. Handles gusts well and for a fairly low AR still claws it's way upwind nicely. Mostly due to raw grunt. :D
Like Erratic said, if you have another bar then it would be a great option as KO. Any top hat system is a step upward. Personally I like the
Slingshot bars, really nice stopper but they suck bone stock in regards to safety systems.
This is the last of 3 12m Rangers I have. I flew the hell out of the first one, less the second one, this one hardly at all. Great kites, just
released without some finishing touches.
