For some reason I always have so much trouble when trying to change my avatar... I have a file on my computer I am trying to upload and it just won't take it, no matter how I try to upload.

Also, I know it looks like an OBE, but it was just a picture that Ssayre took when he came to visit me one day this winter. I was just showing him easy and smooth the Charger 2 makes jumping.

I still see my picture of myself flying the Toxic... and when I go into profile manager and check the URL, it shows the Toxic photo.

I had a lot of problems trying to get Jason's animated avatar to work. It kept defaulting to a single shot instead of animating and also with mine it would flip back in the profile to show my previous photo. I kept playing with the image by slowly chopping off the size and it made a difference when I went slightly smaller in width. It seems to like the proportion slightly more rectangular with the width being a little less but I'm not sure what that number is exactly for pixels. I can check what worked for Jason's avatar, you can see it's narrower than your image placed but I think the animated ones are more finicky for some reason on the sizing.

It shows up on mine as your new one. Man, the photographer did a good job. :)

I don't know how to do it on a pc but on a mac I choose the photo I want in iphoto and choose export out of the file menu and change the size and quality to medium and that seems to work for the size. It still takes most of the day before I'm able to see it changed on the forum.

Well, this happened last time I changed it too. It took several days for me to see the different picture show up, even though some of the other users could already see it. It must just take time to populate over. When I get my splash video finished (when the wind stops being so amazing and I can keep off my beach for a day) I will probably ask Mark to kindly work his GIF magic on my video to pull a couple frames of the BIIIIIG splash for my new avatar :)

It's because of browser caching. If you're on chrome, hold shift and hit the reload button and it will change. For what it's worth, I think I liked the other avatar more though. :)

SpecialK thanks for the tip! I figured it was because of the caching, but I didn't put much thought into figuring it out.

In playing with things now, it appears the width cannot be greater than 100 pixels. Anything more and the animation doesn't appear. I tried same image as 100 pixels wide, then 101 pixels wide. Only the 100 pixels wide version animated.

Not sure how tall it can be :-)

EDIT: Testing now, seems height is limited to 125 pixels

Demo: Glad I could help! Hope you get that kite sold soon. I sure wish i had ∞ kite funds!

Hmmmmm I'm still seeing the old avatar on my iPhone ... I use a photobucket URL for mine... I think

markite - 29-5-2014 at 08:18 PM

I've been seeing the new ones for a couple of days - using safari on my Mac
....and both Jason and Nick are still riding......

RedSky - 29-5-2014 at 08:26 PM

Same here, still seeing your old one.

Demoknight - 30-5-2014 at 05:52 AM

Shift reload and you should see the new one like redsky said. Ignores the cached version and reloads fresh version.

Are you riding at night or on weekdays? I might have to take a day off and come up there if the beach is still ridable. I'd love to get the arc out on your beach.
