I'm getting some traction to get up to this great event and need to get wheels in motion to make it work out. Are dates set yet?bigkid - 1-6-2014 at 06:11 PM
BeamerBob - 1-6-2014 at 06:24 PM
Sometimes the best puns come naturally! It's telling just how much this stuff is in our blood for me to come up with words like that and you get a
chuckle from it Jeff.
I've created a monster now. My wife has a best friend scheming to join us. She found that there is wine country there too, so it looks good for us
to get to come and also, the buddy system takes some husband pressure off me to get to kite and hang out with the crew.Morrie Williams - 1-6-2014 at 07:39 PM
Dates "should" be Aug 30 - Sep 7.BeamerBob - 1-6-2014 at 09:07 PM
Is there a "main" weekend I should make a priority?MeatÐriver - 2-6-2014 at 05:59 AM
Labour day weekend with be the"main weekend." August 30 - September 1Bladerunner - 2-6-2014 at 07:57 AM
Typically the Canadians take advantage of labour day weekend.
It would be great to ride with you on the beach. I hope your plan gets wings !jellis - 2-6-2014 at 09:25 PM
Bob, Morrie is correct Aug 30 thru Sept 7. MeatDriver is also right about the first weekend being the busy one. Looking forward to seeing you.BeamerBob - 3-6-2014 at 09:22 AM
I'm really excited to get a chance to ride with you guys on your famous beach. It's looking like I'll drive up to get me and the gear there with my
wife flying in a day later. The costs go way down compared to shipping kites and buggy 2 ways along with a rental car. Driving also lets me bring
all the kites instead of guessing about what I'll need. I can also bring both sets of wheels if the discs prove too narrow. I don't have bigfoots so
I'll not be in the dunes in any case. Maybe I can borrow a short ride in someone elses big boy buggy to play in the soft stuff.
This will be the second time I've gone to a kite event for my anniversary. It will require some balance between husband and buggy time but I think it
will work out well.
How should I plan for food? I will be in a hotel I'm certain, but don't want to miss any big group meals on the beach. MeatÐriver - 3-6-2014 at 10:22 AM
Bringing kites for all wind ranges is a must out here! As far as the food goes.... all the group meals take place @ buggy camp, 5 minutes from the
beach. Dinner meals on friday, saturday and sunday nights for sure and most often a bacon&egg breakfast the following morning. Was talking with
Eli about maybe getting a double burner down to the beach for an afternoon bite, but we'll see.BeamerBob - 3-6-2014 at 11:08 AM
I have a deep fryer/boiling pot I'll have room for if it's needed.USA_Eli_A - 3-6-2014 at 08:23 PM
What ever Morrie say goes, as long as it has nothing to with potato launchers! Camp is already prepped. Worked all day stacking up tents ect. Phil
is looking forward as well...got the verbal "Go Ahead" today!
MeatDriver has hit it right on the head! This fall we will be enjoying a few meals "A La Plage!"!
Spring Camp was awesome...Fall Camp probably will be too!
rocfighter - 19-6-2014 at 10:30 AM
I am interested in camping. I will have my own camping gear. Is this a camp ground like at JIBE? or just a place in the park we are aloud to stay? BeamerBob - 19-6-2014 at 10:47 AM
Seems like it is a grassy place where a friend let the kiters camp and there is a porta potty set up. Small donations are encouraged. Clarification
will be along shortly if I've gotten details wrong.rocfighter - 19-6-2014 at 03:34 PM
Bobby that seems to be what I am hearing as well. Seems it will just be me at the buggy blowout. Sandy will be at her Aunts.
I will be coming in by bus that drops off at the Seaside Cheveron Station at 8pm. As I am not a tactful man I will ask right out. Any one want to
give me a ride? I promise not to smell to bad or swear to much. I may look disheveled but you'll all get used to that! If this is being to needy let
me know.
Dave.MeatÐriver - 19-6-2014 at 04:26 PM
Don't even sweat it. We'll get you there one way or another. Which day is it that you are arriving Dave?Bladerunner - 19-6-2014 at 05:37 PM
Good to hear you have your butt back in the buggy Dave.
If you let us know what days you will be free to go to SOBB another option may be to catch a ride with one of us Canadians ? We pass right by
Bellingham. It is too early for me to confirm when I am headed down and back. Most likely I will head down Friday. Aug. 28 and home Monday Sept. 1 but
it is too early to tell. Hope to stay a few more days. If your days line up with when I am there you can be sure I'll pick you up and drop you off at
least.
You won't need much for camping gear. Eli and Sean have a great kitchen set-up under some event type tents. I can bring down an extra lawn chair for
you. Even if I have to leave it for you, one of the Kenadians will bring it back up for me. Mostly you just need a tent and sleeping gear. I already
know that showering isn't so important to you but I can drive you to KOA just in case .
It will be great to meet you again and this time we can get out and ride together! csa_deadon - 20-6-2014 at 04:55 AM
Already planning for this one! Yes the Orange cooler will be making a return appearance! Stocking up on taters, Aquanet, and cyalume sticks.
Gonna see if we can reach camp rilea this year from buggy camp!Demoknight - 20-6-2014 at 07:14 AM
Sean... I really want to be there to shoot spuds now. I have made so many spud guns in my youth. My father and I used to make and sell them. We had
it down to a science. Are you a fan of the 2" or 1.5" barrel? 2" is more fun, but 1.5" is more accurate and you get two shots per spud. We also had
a softball gun that got about 600' shots. It shot a four foot blue flame out which looked awesome at night.rocfighter - 25-6-2014 at 12:37 PM
I have another question in a line that I am sure will reach a great distance before I am done!
Because we (Sandy and I) are arriving at different times and she needs to find her way there. We are hoping to get an address for the Buggy camp and
or beach name where the event is being held.
Thank you, Dave.ChrisH - 25-6-2014 at 08:35 PM
I believe the address at buggy camp is....
89255 Dellmoor Loop
Warrenton, OR 97146
46°04'06.7"N 123°54'28.6"W
And the beach...
My best guess on lat and long....
46°06'49.2"N 123°56'52.5"W
Basically, you would turn down Sunset Beach Rd, drive onto the sand and take a right. Drive until you see kites or windsocks, buggies etc.
csa_deadon - 26-6-2014 at 04:38 PM
Think we were using a 1.5" barrel. Gonna have to ask Eli. We were only getting one shot per spud. We were carving our own loads and experimenting
with various types of spud rounds.
Hollow point, sabot, etc.
Did you know a cyalume stick can reach approx 300 vertical feet!BeamerBob - 26-6-2014 at 11:18 PM
Ahh the allure of SOBB broadens. Remember guys, I have decades of experience acting like a 12 year old! Should I bring propane?Bladerunner - 27-6-2014 at 07:30 AM

No need. That can of hair spray that you always travel with will work just fine . BeamerBob - 27-6-2014 at 09:34 AM
I thought that was my secret!:PBladerunner - 5-7-2014 at 09:24 AM
One step closer to making SOBB a reality!
Looks like I will be back to my old job very soon !
It will include all new buildings and I am not certian how many days I can swing. Even if I can just make it for the long weekend I will be a HAPPY
camper. Something I haven't been for a while. :bouncing::bouncy::bouncing:

An integral piece of the good times puzzle is now in place! Can't wait to share the beach with you Ken.arkay - 6-7-2014 at 11:38 PM
I have a conference every year that makes me miss the spring sobb, so I can't wait for august Bring your water gear (just in case )tdmc96 - 16-7-2014 at 05:46 PM
Well....I finally got the word from work that I can get the week off for SOBB :singing:
STOKED!!!
So looking forward to riding with everyone again.
I will be pulling into buggy camp at my usual 2 am on the first Saturday ( I expect to see Eli up again )
I'll bring the Kenadian beer and bacon
Ken(K3)BeamerBob - 16-7-2014 at 05:53 PM
It just gets better and better. Just made mental note to pack beer. I'm looking forward to the camp camaraderie as much as the buggying. USA_Eli_A - 17-7-2014 at 04:13 PM
we have some new developments regarding camp...once I figure them out WE will need to act. One thing is for sure. There is never enough beer...or
oysters!Windy Heap - 17-7-2014 at 04:21 PM
While I didn't fly that day, I did get some good footage of known hooligans at SOBB spring 2014.
I'll try to make it back down this fall.
Enjoy the video, I think I captured some buggy moments pretty good!
Here it is! Some of you have asked about retaining SOBB CAMP for the summer, which includes FALL SOBB.
Basically from July 25th - Sept 7th SOBB CAMP will be live and rolling.
Here is the deal! It's 2.5 acres, water, power, bathroom included! Potentially a dumpster ect.
Here is the catch! It's gonna cost $1,000.00.
This isn't my idea, you know who you are! If we can raise the host 1k we can open the gate any weekend, weekday from July 25th - Sept 7th.
I'm gonna retain the debt. It's all on us......Let's play!
All the none, we are on track for THE SOBB Finally. The second finally and probably the last one, perhaps a 3rd finally possible is someone finds it
in their portfolio to own some Ag. Land.
Eli@kiteoregon.com is my email
I will spoil you rotten if you help us get SOBB camp host stoked!rocfighter - 18-7-2014 at 08:39 AM
So what are you thinking the cost would be per camper? Is this at the regular place or closer to the flying beach? I will have use of a buggy and I
will have my kites. But I have no transportation to and from the beach and camp. We looked into a rental car but it was crazy. I wonder what a U HAUL
van would cost for a couple days? Transporter and dry place to sleep all in one!! Thank you brain! Some times it works!MeatÐriver - 18-7-2014 at 11:12 AM
I'll be out with my trailer on the weekends and plenty of room to haul extra gear. On monday night through friday morning someone else should be able
to help ya.jellis - 18-7-2014 at 12:46 PM
I pledge $200. Please let us know where or how to send it.USA_Eli_A - 18-7-2014 at 05:44 PM
we are very close to our goal. Don't worry, it's A GO for Camp
The idea is to get the place opened up for the rest of the summer so all kiters who come can have a place to crash as THE WHOLE NORTH OREGON COAST IS
FULL NO MORE RESERVATIONS AT ANY STATE PARK OR HOTEL IS AVAILABLE UNTIL NEXT YEAR.
I'm facilitating the project as I keep in touch with the host and labor helping keep the grass mowed ect.
IT's all good. Please send all pledges/email/phone calls my way. TO KEEP THIS SIMPLE AND EASY I will be responsible for communicating with PHIL.
If you send a check, make it to Phil T.
It's going to be a great year...the camp is opened from until the end of camp in Sept.
In a perfect world we could get the host paid up asap. Please don't send him money direct, cause it'd mess up book keeping. I have a lease agreement
for the rest of the summer, from July 25th - Sept 7th
for our buggy camp! The cost is $1,000
If we exceed our goal, then WE can decide what to do with extra money.
SOBB and Camp are two different things, CAMP is at camp, and SOBB is at the beach.
