Cool. Looks like a great spot. Bladerunner - 20-6-2014 at 06:50 AM
Nice video.
What was the wind speed?
If that was your 5m Apex I would try your 10m Access in that same wind next time. Then you can ride cross or upwind.
metajack - 20-6-2014 at 08:39 AM
Wind speed was 4mph gusting to 11mph when I left the house according to wind alert. During the video I think I had probably 8mph gusting to 15, and
very occasionally it would gust to 18.
Hopefully my skills will improve on working the kite in those conditions. I tend to keep it a little too close to the edge of the window. I was flying
deliberately underpowered since I'm still learning. I'll get there soon where I'm confident enough to put up the 10m I hope and keep the kite more in

thinking the 10m should be up as well or your 5m fb....than kite overhead and step on your board...i cant even fathom being on the board w/ the kite
on the ground and then bringing the kite into the wind...but i guess i havent been in wind like that or im a puss...and whatever you feel comfy w/ is
all goodcarltb - 21-6-2014 at 02:46 AM
looks like you were following the kite instead of going across wind. that's why your kite kept collapsing smiler8401 - 21-6-2014 at 07:00 AM
Nice video ..
I am also still learning ...but I am with Carl regarding the kite keep collapsing.
My 2 cent , I guess it were a matter of ' hardening the line ' to prevent kite stalling & collapsing ..
Bladerunner - 21-6-2014 at 07:36 AM
It is tough and scary to learn on your own.
A couple of tips: You seem to be pulling in the bar too much. That stalls the kite. You only want to pull the bar in to speed up turns.
It is better to fly a well powered kite now that you are more comfortable. DON'T start out standing on your board and then launching your kite! Set
your board up more cross wind. If you aren't well powered start off on more like a 45' angle and fly the kite in a sine wave ~ or loop it.
Start out with the kite overhead. Swing it a little to the opposite side of travel and then dive it down into the power zone in the direction you want
to go. As you gain speed you can cut more cross wind.
I respect the fact you are taking it safe but this is a game of risk and reward. If you aren't falling , you aren't going to progress very fast. Pads
give me confidence and my Hillbilly a$$ pads have saved me a few times. As long as you are having fun, your [ you ARE a winner ] a winner !SpecialK - 22-6-2014 at 10:34 AM

Your informative posts mean you're a winner in my book! You're far from being a gross offender in the spelling grammar front. soliver - 22-6-2014 at 07:42 PM

ALL HEIL GRAMMAR NAZI!!!!!!
you've just said what I've wanted to for sooooooooo long.
...now lets talk about the difference between to and too
To= preposition, usually in conjunction with a direction, place or an action verb...
I'm going TO go TO the field TO do some kiting because the wind is blowing TO the west...
Too= preposition typically defined by its synonym "ALSO" or in reference to an excess of something...
The wind was a little TOO much for the 5m kite I had up, I'm glad i brought the 3m TOO...
sorry, I couldn't help myself... too much?
