jumping problem with mountainboard

emir - 20-7-2014 at 11:53 PM

Hello, I am trying basic jump (jump and travel same direction). I use mountainboard, Beamer V 5m and I am 155 lbs. When I do the jump manauver I can't provide enought lifting. So Yesterday I tried jump in strong wind (20 mph +). But I could'nt jump ı want and concerned this experience. Because kite traveled on wind window very fast, lifting time was short and sometimes pulled me front strongly.

is problem me or kite, thanks

lots of things to consider,

POS
speed
kite position in window
rate of send for jump
tuning of kite
timing
power build up before send
your balance
...so, how much time riding ?

be careful of what you wish for...imo 5mfb kite is the bottom size for this @155#....w/ 20+ winds if you send your kite back overhead from in front of you, you should be getting ripped off the ground...think of it the same as a pendulum jump when flying static (something i dont do)...and then theres that whole redirecting thing so you come down nice and easy or in tact anyway...dont rush it dont be boosting till your good and ready w/ your flying skills...when the times right it will come...you got a helmet on right?

Beamers are low lift by design. Low lift kites often can have some pop if redirected hard but often lack the float to bring you down smoothly. If you want to jump you need a kite with a higher A/R and should probably be using a 6m or larger given your weight. I weigh 145 and can jump with my 5.5 JOJO ET but my 6m Bego offered way more float and much smoother lift.

you are right not a good video...but it looks like you got the motion down..send that kite back hard and keep it back a little more (longer)for the lift before redirecting if im seeing that correctly...nice backyard you got there

you are slightly falling off the wind(POS ) giving good acceleration but too much speed for weak kite action. at faster speeds the kite has to match and be faster , harder AND in the right area of the window.

kite is too low ...the lift up is from overhead

action is too slight, needs to be BIGGER(send it further back into the window) and HARDER.

u really need to feel the POWER in the kite, it is the pop point and this should be snappy, and then slam the bar in at peak build up of power

kite position in the window should be higher MORE over head with good cross wind speed

at the point of peak pop u need use your legs, flex down at hip and knees and pop up as u slam bar in kite should right over your head.

POS and speed control are controlling elements of power build up in kite

cruise around with the kite high in the window right over your head ...as you speed up in crosswind POS, you should feel the lift in the harness a quick send back and redirect forward even at slow speed will make the kite fire and give a little pop.
practice this and add speed and bigger kite action.

it will get up

I think it's as much the kite as anything.

I wouldn't even attempt jumping with a 5m Beamer. It isn't designed as a jumping kite. Even if you do force lift out of it you won't get float.

Sorry, not trying to be hard on you.

Thank you all, I will try to jump according to your advice.

I want but couldn't buy depower kite (I dont have enought money) ,but I maybe buy another fixed bridge kite have more lifting and suitable for jumping. maybe 6,6.5 m and high aspect ratio. Can you give me advice

thanks

flexifoil Blade or PL twister have plenty of lift. Twister is a little more stable and the blade a little more powerful per square meter. Twister does not work well on a turbo bar though.
