Hi all! Im from Central, Nj and am looking into getting my first 3m power kite. Possibly a Peter Lynn Hornet V1. If anyone knows any good spots to

Welcome, we have been having a nice chat on U2U, but feel free to call me to chat anytime. There are several folks close to you that I'm sure would be
glad to meet up with you. Just be prepared to be hooked and start selling off the clothes on your back to get more kites, it's extremely addicting!aronma - 2-8-2014 at 07:32 AM
Welcome to the sport. I live in Union County and usually try to hit the beach to fly after Labor day. I've flown a few times in some of the local
fields, but none are near as good as trip to Wildwood or Brigantine.shaun413 - 5-8-2014 at 12:25 PM
Hey again all! My first kite is coming in the mail tomorrow! I bought a Peter Lynn Hornet V1 3m off a member here. Can't wait to get flying and will
try to take it out this weekend! Thanks all for the help so far. It is much appreciated.shehatesmyhobbies - 5-8-2014 at 07:23 PM
Have a blast and be safe nothing over 10mph winds till you get used to it, at 10mph winds, it will still give you some serious pull. Kober - 5-8-2014 at 07:34 PM
Welcome to addiction ..... For fist session try to fly it in open area with no trees and buildings around so you can get frustration free experience
..... Sunday looks like good day to hit the beach ( after hours ) .... winds 7-10 mph a bit on shore .... so its perfect to learn .... Make sure
there is no people around you when flying for a first time ..... U need over 100' of space downwind of you ... Learn how to use safety and don't
be afraid to use it ... for current wind conditions check WindAlert.comshaun413 - 6-8-2014 at 07:19 AM
Thanks all for the advice! Kober, do you know what beaches in NJ actually allow kiting after hours? I thought they were off limits until October?
Thanks.Kober - 6-8-2014 at 09:24 AM
Not sure .... I ride water thru whole summer .... I don't fly static anymore .... Try find part of beach away from main parking lot .... it should
be way less people there after hours .... Long Branch have nice big beach .... not sure about rules there .... If police ask you to pack ....
just go and try different town .... State parks ( Sandy Hook and IBP ) is off limits all day ... Make sure to stay away from people .... that
is main thing ... shaun413 - 6-8-2014 at 10:00 AM
Ok, I will try some beaches. I Was thinking about Belmar or Long Branch, so I will try Sunday maybe if the winds are calm enough. I may also try to
stop at the park office of a state park near me with a large field to see if I can fly there. Problem with that may be the trees, and Im not sure how
windy it is there. I plan to fly static for a few years, at least until i'm done with college and can afford the equipment, then I wanted to get into
kite boarding as well. Hopefully I will be able to make it to WBB and fly with you guys. Thanks for the advice!WELDNGOD - 6-8-2014 at 01:08 PM
You will probably be breaking the law. Most public beaches do not allow kiting during tourist season. I know @ Wildwood Crest it is illegal ,but in
the off season they don't enforce it. shaun413 - 6-8-2014 at 07:22 PM
Ahh... Ill ask around and try to find a park then. Thanks for the advice.shaun413 - 7-8-2014 at 11:38 AM
IT HAS ARRIVED! I guess I can officially be inducted into the power kite flyers club now? Or do I have to go fly it first :P Know that I know the
beaches are pretty much off limits this time of year, Im not sure Ill be able to fly until October... Or Ill have to try and find a park that will
allow it. If anyone has any parks that they know allow kites, please let me know! And, man a 3m kite is much larger than I expected! this will be fun.abkayak - 7-8-2014 at 01:12 PM
if you try to wait till october i will come take your kite away..but quite gusty from the north in NJ today...careful out thereshaun413 - 7-8-2014 at 01:37 PM
HEHE, its killing me waiting... any ideas where I could fly and not be arrested :p? I've unpacked and packed the kite a good 10 times already just
marveling at its beauty and size. I've even wrapped myself like a burrito in its beautifully crisp fabric while chanting prayers to the wind gods
around a raging bonfire. Hopefully soon I can find a place to get out and fly it before I start using it as a bed sheet. shehatesmyhobbies - 7-8-2014 at 02:51 PM
Just be reading your last post, you better start a second part time job and maybe start playin the lottery. You are already hooked and haven't even
flown the kite yet.aronma - 7-8-2014 at 04:03 PM
Congrats Shaun. Have fun with your new kite and be careful. A good helmet is a great investment.3shot - 7-8-2014 at 04:30 PM
