For those who have flown it; how does it's power compare to other kites near it's size?
I expect that it is more powerful than the 1.7m Sting. Is it less(I'd assume) powerful than any 2m kite?
I buggy with the 1.7m sting only when the wind is blowing in the 30mph range and gusting into the 40mph range and I may have even experienced 45-50mph
wind gusts with this kite before. I"ve been in the low 40mph range speedwise in the buggy with this kite.
Times when the wind is slacking into the 20's; but still gusting into the 30's; I find myself really struggling with getting upwind anytime the wind
is in the 20's.
I wonder if the 1.8 Rage would be a good choice and would fit my needs? Or will it be too much given the winds I'd fly it in?
The 1.7m has never; and I don't think it can OBE me. The pull is very light in the handles; but it's just enough to get around in higher winds.(I was
so impressed by this kite; I bought a second one just in case anything ever happens to my first one and they ever stop making this great kite.)
Does the 1.8m Rage have the type of power to OBE? Does it have a limit to the top of it's wind range? What is the minimum wind you feel one can
satisfactorily buggy in with it?
I've had times when my 1.7 Sting has left me wanting more; but I'm leary to get anything bigger out. I'm pretty sure I got the 2.4m Sting out once
and I did get OBE'd... It's just too big of a jump in size.3shot - 7-8-2014 at 04:21 AM
I have the 1.8m. I'm 6'2" @210 lbs. Last winter I had it out in 25mph winds. Not really sure where the gusts topped out at. Throughout the day, the
wind slowed down, but was still very gusty. In 25+ It moved me very well. I was in the PL XR+ however. That first run I put up a 2m Flow to start.
That was too much pull. I know you use to have the Flows, so that may help you see where I'm coming from. The Flow was slower, but way more grunty.
The Rage was faster and more manageable from being able to build the apparent wind to my liking. The 2m Flow was just a bull out of the box in 25 mph.
The next run, the wind had fallen down to about 20 mph, and the Rage was just a little to small. So back up went the Flow 2m. On the next and last
run, the wind had fallen to 15mph, and I then put up the Rage 3.5m to finish out the day. As of right now, the Rage 1.8m is my go to high wind kite.
Not sure how much more you would gain in the 1.7 Sting vs the 1.8. Rage other than a little more apparent wind speed. That being from wing design. Of
course, that just may be the difference your looking for. Don't know if this helps any, but that's my experience. I just need a 4.7 now..rtz - 11-8-2014 at 10:25 AM

I like your stories rtz. Makes me wish I had more wind. I pretty much never have an opportunity to use anything smaller than a 4 meter in my area.rtz - 11-8-2014 at 06:21 PM

That's the thing about their website. That $125 price includes VAT/tax. After it's added to the cart and the shipping location is entered for a
shipping quote; the price is $104.92.
I think they may also have the prices linked up to exchange rates. I'm pretty sure the night before I ordered; the price was .08 cents higher.

I hooked up some lines to it and flew it in less then 10 mph wind and it flys real nice static. I like how it turns. I put the 1.7m Sting on it and
the Rage is about 4" wider at each wing tip. The bridle is totally different. The Sting inflates and stays inflated. The Rage reminds me of a Flow
or Octane.
(one handed flying is why the brake lines look wack)

Jump on that Jason!!!
Or just get a Reactor... trust me as the founding member of the JWC... Reactors get the job done... well.
and fast.
oh yea... sweet new kite rtz!!!3shot - 12-8-2014 at 04:17 AM
Thanks rtz. That direct flexi pricing is awesome. I'm still hoping someone takes me up on my 5m Toxic trade offer..
You should get a kick out of it in high wind.
I need that 4.7 Spence. The Rage does really well in the janky too. Most days, my 3.5 is what leaves the field last.
