I know BuggyDanny got a couple pics of howard receiving it.....Thanks again for the donation and Howard for knocking it out of the park with
bidding....there was a moment of silence there that was pretty funny....
It went something like this....We hope to raise at least 85.00 dollars as this is what they were selling for in the spring...
Lets start the bidding at 50.00.....then.....someone in the back yells 200.00.....silence.......it was classic....
You better make it to the next event.....you have 6 months to plan and save or I will buggy all the way to you from WW...aronma - 29-10-2014 at 04:15 PM
Donnie, you do awesome work!hiaguy - 29-10-2014 at 04:21 PM
Actually, I don't think there was yelling. I looked at Rich and held up two fingers and just said "two".
He looked kinda perplexed, so I repeated it and it was basically a done deal. No one else bid.
I saw the sculpture when Rich first opened it and it immediately touched me. I had a kite for sale at WBB, and I was fortunate to sell it to Shannon
and Rich, so that gave me the opportunity to bid that I wouldn't have had otherwise. Sometimes, bidding gets out of hand when people get caught up in
it, and I was willing to contribute to the cause - specially for his piece - so I went for broke. Fortunately, it worked.
When I got home from WBB (it was almost 11 pm), Josh was asleep. I put it in his room so that he'd see it when he woke up. He brought it into my
bedroom in the morning and - with his wonderful smile - simply said "this is great". I told him it is titled "Learning to fly" and he just nodded and
took it back to his room.
Having kids, flying kites, spending time with people I've met through kiting, have all provided "Kodak moments" that I can't imagine being without.
The sculpture allowed me to have, and share, one of those moments
PS: My wife is under the impression that it came from the raffle table and I'm
not telling her anything different!WELDNGOD - 29-10-2014 at 04:25 PM
AWESOME! Howard , you are the MAN Bro. Glad you thought it was a MUST HAVE. I was going to do a buggy like usual. And I just thought that was just
ordinary and I wanted to do something that represented what the PKF spirit is all about. Then BAM! I could see it. And I made it. Apparently ,just for
you.
Bruce, thanks for the play by play. I am stunned that it went for that. :o And Kelly and I were very disappointed that we could not be there. But
since I bought this big a$$ house, I have not worked a minute of OT.(Govt. is tight on money) And that is what funds the fun stuff.
I love my PKF family, you guys (and gals) are the best ! WELDNGOD - 29-10-2014 at 04:30 PM
Howard Thanks dude , there are tears on my keyboard now. It ain't easy to make an old salty shipyard welder get all misty eyed. Congratulations. shehatesmyhobbies - 29-10-2014 at 04:48 PM
Yes Dan does have the pics. Donnie, when I opened the box when it came in it almost brought tears to my eyes. Such a special piece that has such a
wonderful meaning! Most of us have had that experience with a kid, or spouse or who ever and it means so much to us. I spelled it out and explained it
as something we all love to do, something that had a ton of meaning to me and many others, your best piece yet! I opened up the bids with a request
for a starting bid, Howard gave the one and only bid and he's right I was perplexed!
I again can't tell you how much it meant to have you build something like that for the cause.
Howard you are the man and you very well deserve it!WELDNGOD - 29-10-2014 at 05:01 PM
I thought it exemplified what the PKF was about. hiaguy - 29-10-2014 at 05:13 PM

I gotta say that messed up my vision a little. My boys have been flying with me since the beginning so that really touched me. Awesome work. I have
one of the first myself that is very special to me.bigkid - 30-10-2014 at 09:52 AM
Nice job, you did sign the piece, right? All great artists sign their work.
Keep producing stuff like this and you could quit your day job.abkayak - 30-10-2014 at 10:06 AM

Brother Jeff, I never considered myself an artist. So, I really never thought on signing them. I don't even know how I could do it ,short of a metal
tag. That may take away from the "stick figure/petroglyphic look" And to that last part..... "I WISH". They won't become collectible until when I'm
dead. Why do you think they are called "starving artists" LOL WELDNGOD - 30-10-2014 at 06:13 PM
