[WANTED] Larger bar that will fit with a 15M or 18M Phantom

jadog - 5-11-2014 at 08:40 AM

Looking for a bar to share between an 15M and 18M Phantom. Does someone have a bar (and lineset) that would be compatible? Suggestions welcome!

If nobody on here has one for you, you might check ebay. It seems like there is always bars and lines on there.

I have a 60cm Z07 bar that i don't use..

i"ve never included it with a kite since i like to sell my things in like new condition :)

I got this bar from a PKF user a few years back and only used it twice since i got the nav bars on all my other kites..

the reason i've kept it is because the neophrene had been patched (only estetic) but doesn't look new :)

and the deepower rope had been shortened, user must have had short arm hehehe

the lines seemed in good shape, maybe need to make sure they stretched equaly..

if of interest, send me your email and i can take pictures of it and go from there

like i said , last time i used it , it was ok... but i don't like selling things that aren't perfect..so i never put it up for sale..

things i recommend you do if you want it are:
-would need to make the deepower rope longer to be in original specs if wanted to
-would have to make sure the lines are of equal lenght before using it, i think one lline was a little longer as i vaguely remember the kite slightly going to one side.but it's been a while now :)

Looks like Angus at Coastal still has the depow line with chick loop still in stock. So fixing the short throw would be easy.

Angus is a stand up guy to buy from.

Another option is to call Kent at awindofchange.

He lists a 50cm bar which is the same as the small bar I have listed with my Phantoms.

You could get just a 60cm large PL 07 stripped bar or a comparable 60cm stripped bar and move the kit from this 50cm bar over.

The thing is you need the wider bar on the bigger kites to give you good steering input to the kite.

Lots of options. You could grab the bar above and the kit from Kent???? Grab the bar above and gear from Angus to make it right.....

You could get this bar and move the kit over from the small pl 07 bar.

What do you guys think?

He would have a 45cm and 55cm bar by just moving attachment points....

Gotta be other 55/65 bars out there that the kit from the small bar could be moved to as well.

I also have one of those 07 depower lines I got from Angus years ago and never had to install it.

I have some line sets too

Having tried the Nav bar on an older Arc, I personally didn't like it. Maybe it was because I was so accustomed to using either an 04, or 07 bar with my Phanny's.

I would also not suggest using any other bar to fly the phantoms even though as long as they are four line equal line set ups they will work, unless you use the specs from PL, like the depower line length and all that other stuff, you will not get the full potential from the kite. IMO

As Phree said earlier, the 55-60cm will fly all those kites, even the 9m. I have used a small bar on the 9m when the winds were over 35mph only to keep the kite from being too fast when turning, that's it. It still performs better on the larger bar.

Keep up the look, you will find one. Even a plain bar with all the PL goodies will work and that looks like it can be obtained rather easily from several here.

That craigslist listing above has a stripped Naish bar, letter k, for 35 bucks.

You could take the kit of the short PL 07 bar and move it to the Naish.

Then if you wanted you could get the parts over time from the links I provided to build the small bar if you wanted.

At 22 inches that will turn those Phantoms.
