Big expensive toys .....

Kober - 25-11-2014 at 09:01 PM

..... what you do when there is no wind ??? Do you have bunch of fun toys to play with when kites are waiting for better forecast ??
..... Let's dream big for a moment ..... and here is few examples what to dream about ....

.....
Drones .....
We all want them .... but getting whole set up is not that cheap .... There is more and more options piping up everywhere with competitive pricing ....
1. DJI Phantom .... we all know this one .... most popular drone out there and now with bigger better brother Inspire 1 !!... for only $3000 ..... lol
http://www.dji.com/product/inspire-1

2. Airdog .... with auto follow option !!! its like flying Soloshot
https://www.airdog.com

3. Ghost Drone .... good price and promising performance ,,,
http://ghost-drone.com

4. Parrot BeBop .... I like this one ... love the controller .... please santa !!!
http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/bebop-drone/

5. Storm Racing Drone ..... could not find company page .... but I love this video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-g82k-ZQzA

I think I really need to get some RC toys ..... lol ...
Here is one good web store with a lot of good info :
http://www.helipal.com/index.html

What's next ???
How about RC boat ??

Pro Boat Impulse !!!!! 50mph + ....... wow ....
http://www.proboatmodels.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdId=PR...

RC boat too small ??? Need something bigger ???
How about that :
Quarofoil ...... Why I don't poop $$$$ .... I would get one right now ....
http://www.quadrofoil.com

something more realistic ??? with smaller price tag and still fun on water ?
Seadoo Spark
http://www.quadrofoil.com

Jetski is not fun for you ???
How about jetpack ?
Aquaflyer .... I know there is few more companies making similar toys .... somehow I forgot to add those to my link list
http://jetlev.com/product/jetlev-aquaflyer/

Flying above water dose not provide enough adrenaline for you ??
Maybe flying behind plane will .....
One crazy idea here :
Wingboard
http://www.theriderpost.com/air/insolite-3/le-wingboard-du-s...

Lets go back on a ground for a moment ......

How to get to kite spot with some of your gear ( space a bit limited )

Reeper .... street legal ATV ..... awesome if you few miles away from beach that you can drive on .....
http://oreionmotors.com/reeper

Polaris Slingshot ..... I am very tempted by this one ..... but 22K for few fun rides a year is quite expensive .... so we looking forward to see what Van from VTT will create with his inspired mind and buggy building skills ...... Is your frame ready Van ?
http://www.polaris.com/en-us/slingshot

Can Am Spyder ..... with trailer for you kites .... lol ...
http://can-am.brp.com/spyder/

I have whole bunch of links with cool toys that I wish I can afford .... and sometimes it happens that I am able to get one .... Nothing is as much exciting for me like getting big air when kiteboarding or speeding in buggy on Wildwood shore ..... but I can't stop collecting all those links for some non kiting fun .....

Share yours .....

Unfortunately I buy power tools and continue to work on the house. I used to get excited about buying tools, but not as much anymore. Pretty boring.

Kamikuza - 25-11-2014 at 10:08 PM

The motorbike when the weather of good, gaming when it's not... I have like, 4 guitars but haven't played in years...

Kober - 25-11-2014 at 10:28 PM

SSayre ..... I own construction company ...... and I am still excited when buying new tools ....

ssayre - 25-11-2014 at 10:36 PM

Dittos here Sean,... I've got a whole shop full... Just finished this guy up... Homeschooling means a never ending flow of books entering the household, shelf space grows sparse quickly.

Zero wind kites and XULs fly without wind.

Right now, mostly thinking about another winter shelter for the feral kits. For some reason, the sibs aren't always sharing.

If the order doesn't get screwed up, the roof is going to be a nice bright shade of red. :D Pimpin' shelters....

For Quads, your left out the Stingray 500

Can definitely see the allure of DIY.... for those that don't have ready access to tools for the more detail oriented fabrication,
Flite Test is a good source for prebuilt components that you can use to jumpstart your drone. I love the slightly predatory look of the BatBone.

There's also the Electro Hub for those that prefer a more traditional 4 rotot setup.

When your wife is a motor head you may get to polish a couple of her cars & go to a cruise in on no wind days.

Dayhiker - 13-12-2014 at 08:01 PM

Or she will let you take her to a car show so you can haul her trophy home for her in your old pickup. Best Ford in show was too big to fit in her little 33 Tudor. The F1 got best original antique.

DJI Phantom Vision 2 + v.3.0

RedSky - 15-12-2014 at 04:05 PM

When I was young I liked to lower my dog out of the bedroom window in a basket, particularly when my parents were entertaining guests in the lounge below. I had no other hobbies before or since then apart from flying a kite of course. For a short time I did have an interest in computers with an unhealthy obsession collecting Commodore Amiga magazines and keeping them in pristine condition. My mum through them away when I was at college. Today I see these mags on eBay fetching £7 each and I had stacks of hundreds.

Does anyone want to pick up mill in Indiana and drive it out to the northwest? :D
