Hi everyone,
I just purchased my first power kite as an after Christmas present to myself. It is a Beamer II 3.6. From everything I have read it is a good
beginner kite. I got it from the guys there in Seaside.
I haven't flown it yet due to the wet weather. 
So, anyways, I see a lot of members here are from that area and would love to go out flying with any of you when I come down on weekends. I was also
wondering if you guys fly when we get the light drizzle or sprinkles when there is little chance of lightning. Anyway any info about flying would be
great.
As a newbie, my goal is to start scudding when I can get it all together. By the way, I am a big guy at about 280lbs, so I don't think I will get
carried away in a light breeze.
I have ordered a kite for my 8 year old son as well as I think this one is way too big for him to learn on. I got him a T-foil.

What a great way to share quality time with your Son ! He'll be on to the Beamer about the time you want to move up. With your difference in size you
can be a one quiver family !

That was my thought. He should be able to control the Beamer after flying the smaller one a couple dozen times. It has kite killers too which make
feel alittle more comfortable about it with him. I just want him to build up wome arm and grip strength so he can hold it somewhere other than the
zenith.

Sounds like a good choice for kites to get started with, for your son with the t-foil, just be sure to get him started in lighter winds, fly it
yourself for a min at the first of each of his sessions to make sure he's not going to get dragged off into the sunset.
You're going to want to track down some of the locals, I'm not sure how far you are from Sunset Beach, but it's one of the places to be. Nice hard
packed, usually quite wide when the tide's out. Sunset Jim can be found there quite often and is a great guy to talk to.

Sunset Beach is only about ten miles from where we hang out, and there are other good beaches along that stretch from Sunset to Seaside.
I was hoping I would meet some of the locals on here for "flying lessons" at some point.

you guys never answered his questions.
its not a good idea to fly when lightening is in the area.
if your kite gets wet it won`t fly right.
these nylon kites soak up water like a sponge. so even if its just a drizzle the kite will become very heavy fast.
your better off waiting for a sunny day. wet sand sucks too.
its sticks to everything and gets everywhere.

Flew the kite for the first time Saturday. Took my son out at Seaside and the wind was almost calm, under 10 for sure. Took up the kite and flew it
for about 3 hours, switching off with my son and myself. What a blast. He was getting dragged for about 3 feet and my feet were about ready to break
loose when the wind picked up a bit. Had a blast and ready for more!!!!
