I just returned from a family ski trip to Norway. I sneaked my Peak and harness into my luggage, and managed to get a couple of hours off from family
stuff and try some kite skiing.
What can I say? Amazing!! I've been learning to kite with an ATB, which has been tough with my gusty changing inland winds. But up on the mountain
last week I got a taste for what snow kiting is like!
There was barely any wind. 5mph maybe. But it was the only time I could get away so I tried it anyhow. The Peak 6m flew but I really had to work it
to keep it in the air. I was about to pack up when the wind picked up a little. Maybe 6-7 mph. I thought I'd give it one more go and was pleasantly
surprised when a quick loop got me moving. And then once I was moving the experience was great. Loads of apparent wind, and easily able to hold
ground and even go upwind.
I was going back and forth on a hard packed cross country track. And then got pulled into the powder field for a little.
I felt much more in control on skiis than on an ATB. I loved it!!!
I really envy you guys who can do this every day, I really want to do some more!!! VERY confidence building compared with my ATB efforts.
I really want to do a full on snow kite trip now!
