The new Flexifoil Stings

rtz - 25-12-2014 at 10:55 PM

Just in case you haven't seen them by now; what do you think of the new colors?

http://shop.flexifoil.com/recreational-kiting/sting/

I read on Facebook they now have aluminum handles.

It's good to see this kite is still available. This kite will allow you to fly in high winds and also gusty, terrible winds. It stays inflated and has no bad manners.

My personal experience:

1.7m: 30mph wind gusting to 40 and beyond. Less then 30mph wind and it really struggles trying to go upwind in the buggy.

2.4m: 20mph range wind sometimes into the 30's. You'll have to feel it out and see how high you feel comfortable with it.

3.3m: 15mph gusting into the 20's.

Any time the wind is bad or gusty all over the place wind; these are my go to buggy kites.

If you sit out and don't buggy because it's too gusty or too windy; you should really try out the Sting.

Top shelf kites. I get a lot of use out of mine:

I kinda like the 3.3 colors. The 1.7 and 2.4 are a little far fetched.... IMO

Fine colors.... for Playschool toys. At least they showed some restraint with the colors for the 3.3, which is essentially the Casino color scheme with large slices gray (which has the added benefit of showing UV fading less than black) and red added .

Not fond of the font they chose for the model name and size..... again it looks like something from the pre-school font catalog.

Would have preferred if they skewed more towards colors like the Quark trainer from previous years.

I think you can get any size in any color?

That's sound about right and has been Flexifoil's practice in the past.

Just got a sting 3.3 and yes the handles are aluminum with red and blue padding for hands with black plastic knobs at the break end. Also of note leads have smaller circle to do the larks head knot(might not go over old ground spike ) and no tabs,so not so easy to undo anymore.
it's my first kite so went with flexifoil after trying friend's kites. While the kite looks good, the accessories are functional but not quality unlike my friends old flexi kite.
Please understand this is a first impression of a complete beginner. Will tell you of my thoughts after first flight

I'm sorry but the color selection looks like the person in charge left that to the last minute and submitted these.....Of all the cool colors and graphics these days...not to mention this is usually what drives sales...(not for me but..)

They look like the colors on a kite you would buy on vacation.....they could of done much better....

I still love my FB Flexis....still searching for a 2.5...I know all about the one overseas for less then a hundred but a huge amount to ship....deal breaker

Color...
I feel like these kites are aimed at young teenagers.
I also think manufacturers have no clue how to make a design anymore that shows some class.

It can be me but the other day I saw an HQ Hydra 4.2 flying. Design and colorwise pretty for the eyes.

Talking for myself...a simple looking kite can be beautiful.

Fisher Price Colors for sure. Unusual for Flexifoil.

I just figured it was so you didn't feel out of place in case you snuck onto the local golf course to do some flying..... :o

Sam
The local Jekyll Island golf course has a big problem with the local deer (over)population overrunning the golf course. Those pants might just do the trick. Thanks.

You all are right but...... If the graphics are on the underside, the flyers side,
where they should be, I like. Maybe more manufactures will follow suite.

Personally I would like to see more kite manufacturers put the graphics
where we can see them instead of making sacrifices to the sun god!

Kiting has always been a color, style, design and color "thing" for lack of a better word.

I've never understood why power kites aren't part of that "thing". Dull or nothing to see
from the ground! Kite manufacturers need to step it down!;)

Underside graphics please.

or just go single skin and that eliminates that problem. :)

You need to get rid of some of these old flexi rages and handles and buy some new ones....I know this guy with some cash for you to make it happen....:frog::lol:
