12.5m Montana V Sold

soliver - 2-1-2015 at 06:46 PM

Really just testing the waters here, cuz I want to get into a set of NASA star 3's, so I'm putting this guy up first to see how it will go in spite of the season.

I have a 12.5m Montana V, which I bought from Cheddarhead. When he sold it, he was complaining of having a problem with it front stalling. After I bought it I sent it to John at Powerzone and he told me that he worked out the front stall issue. I have been told that this size is one of the MOST versatile sizes.

I have only flown it static a hand full of times so I can only comment that I liked what little bit I did fly it, but I've decided I want the NASAs more.

I only want to get out of it what I've put into it which is roughly $320. I will spit shipping with the purchaser if sold in the continental US.

Of course it comes complete with the Bar and lines and I'll throw in the safety leash I bought to go with it from Powerzone.

I will also be selling some Reactor II's soon, so let me know if you're interested in any of those.

I do better with email, so hit the email button below if you want to contact me

Can post pics if anyone wants.

Got your email Riff, and yours too Renny... I'll get some pics posted ASAP ... Later tonight or tomorrow... It's wet out now and it might be tough with the bum foot, but I'll do my best.

Riff has first dibs fyi.

Just the repair areas and the color scheme would be sufficient pics for me.. I don't need the full rolled out canopy to decide.. I'm 90% sure I'm going to buy..

sadsack - 4-1-2015 at 11:29 AM

same for me and maybe a photo of the bar and lineset

soliver - 4-1-2015 at 11:52 AM

Ok, gonna get some pics later today, but there are no visible repairs, the work he did at Powerzone was all bridle tuning and honestly I'm not sure what that entailed. If I were to guess, he probably stretched the A bridle to put the leading edge out a bit, but that only a guess. The color scheme is blue, grey and white.

riffclown - 4-1-2015 at 11:58 AM

Then consider it sold.. Particulars sent via email..

soliver - 4-1-2015 at 12:26 PM

Thanks Riff!

Thanks for the interest Renny!

I think the only place to buy the NASA Star 3 kites is from the Born-kite website: http://www.born-kite.de

gonna put some RII's up FS if anyone's interested let me know.

B-Roc - 6-1-2015 at 04:02 PM

That's what I thought. How is the shipping and tax situation coming from Germany?

3shot - 6-1-2015 at 04:08 PM

Shipping isn't that bad B-roc. Both my last shipments were 36€ for shipping Global DHL. 19%VAT is already included in the kite prices you see on his site. Even with the taxes, you can buy two NASAs for the price of one comparable bridled foil just about.

soliver - 6-1-2015 at 04:14 PM

He ships via DHL, and of course by weight, buying 3 kites a bar and lines, it looks like it'll be just 1 tier above what Jason was saying, 45 Euros.... Not bad considering its international shipping.

If I can afford it too, I'm thinking I might get a new pair of strait ribbed tires for the Stinger too, ... If the NS3s pull like y'all are sayin, I'll need a little extra sidelong traction... Nanco 18x8.5-8s are only $36 on Amazon prime.

Looks at his new shiny prime membership . . .

If you really dip them deep and low Spencer, lots of side pull!!!! Again, in my very short one day of buggying lol. Not like yank you out sideways ( my semi OBE was a little different), but definitely sling some dirt and grass . Sean will chime in any minute as well.

You know what is really cool?? You have three separate threads now, and they all end up being Nasa Star threads :D :D :D :D :D

ssayre - 6-1-2015 at 04:58 PM

Yep :D

US distributor for BORN was 'Crash then swim'

jollydriver - 6-1-2015 at 09:15 PM

Soliver

'Crash then swim' was the US distributor for BORN as of 2012-2013. I actually purchased a set of NASA Star 1s (NPW9 design) from him in late 2012.

He has not been active on the forum in a few months, but it might be worth sending an inquiry to his profile email to see if he still imports the BORN kites, and how the prices compare to see if you can avoid VAT and/or too much shipping.

Best Wishes and heal up soon!

JD

Thanks Jollydriver, I just shot him an email to see if he's still dealing the NASA stars

B-Roc - 7-1-2015 at 11:18 AM

Let us know what if he responds and what he says. Thanks

soliver - 7-1-2015 at 11:46 AM

Will do

3shot - 11-1-2015 at 06:12 AM

Any word back from him Spencer?

soliver - 11-1-2015 at 02:11 PM

Nope... Prob gonna get it all from Born Kite in Germany

3shot - 11-1-2015 at 06:36 PM

Steffen and Kirsten will take good care of you!!

soliver - 11-1-2015 at 07:14 PM

I'm sure,... Now I'm thinking I may get the 4m through the 8.5m. Since the 8.6m was one of my most frequently used I'm giving it serious thought.
