Past WBB memories.

I sit here day after day in my comfy chair and I read posts on FB and PKF and I remember all the great times and great people I have met through this sport. An extreme sport taken over by us old guys.
As the years have past and my health has declined I have always known I could count on the folks I have met here to be there for me. This is an awesome thing.
I have never been accused of being a great flier or buggier. But I have had a lot of fun. My son aka TheKid with help from a lot of you has become as insane a rider as Bruce! This is a complement Bruce!
Well I have lost track of why I started this but I just hope that others will add on there memories fun or not. I know Chris Shultz has at least one!
See you all soon.

Wow, don't even know where to begin. I do remember my first time though, I was a fairly new buggy pilot, but had the ropes down pretty good. I stayed on the soft sand for a bit, then finally went for it and hit the hard pack. I was amazed at the difference between the two, hit lightning speed (15-20mph) in the blink of an eye and ran back into the soft stuff to slow down before I ended up in another time zone. I was eventually able to go down to the CG station and back fairly easy once I adjusted my drawers and gathered my nerves. From there it has been nothing but great times since!

One of my fondest memories has got to be when I finally convinced cheesy that he needed to concentrate flying the phantoms and just roll with it. He did just that and we ended up doing a kite over kite side by side ride down a stretch of the beach. The smile on his face seeing both the big 18m phantoms riding so close together and the pure enjoyment he had in that moment was priceless, better than any speed run I have ever made. There are so many great times I have had, it would take me a week to type it all.

Thanks Dave for starting this thread, just makes it harder to know we have too many more days till we will all be riding together again, but it will be here before you know it

Past memories....

* I remember my first WBB...I didn't know a soul....as I drove down the road toward the Shalimar, I came upon what seemed like hundreds of buggies and a smile hit my face...I am here....

* I remember Buggy Danny, Mike D, Paul and the crew inviting me to have dinner with them in their room...really making me feel welcome.

* I remember the next morning walking to the beach in like 40 mph winds....thinking to myself what small kite do I have for this?...Then this guy with a cigarette in his mouth walks up and starts saying he's going to launch some 15 meter kite and I was like...I'm staying far away from this guy, he's nuts.....he's been my room mate ever since.....A friendship that keeps growing well beyond just kites and Wildwood...

* I remember seeing Buggy Danny and Claude and thinking to myself....you need to be like them....years later...still practicing and still looking up to them...

* I remember "The Kidd" just growing and growing and growing....and seeing a pile of broken buggies, axles, and equipment by the end of the event...

* I remember pig roasts, prize tables, and a sky filled with the most colorful kites ever....I remember seaweed and sand in my mouth...I remember not having big foot tires and wondering how I was going to hide that purchase from the Mrs....

* I remember some of the best sessions ever on that beach...I remember my first downturn, power slide and how could I possibly at 147 lbs. keep bending axle bolts.

* I remember Howard and his kid....I remember Owen and that cool little bug with the gold wheels and his leg hanging off the side as he pushed his way along flying his NPW.

* I remember fund raisers for cancer and all the people who made the event table so great....

* I remember Hurricane Sandy and the winds she brought...

So many memories I wouldn't give up for the world and so many more to come. I can't wait to bring my kids and have them create their own....I love this sport...thanks for all the great memories.....

OH yeah...I remember Dave too....xo

Probably my fondest memory also Rich. Those two 18's looked like the Mc'ds golden arches floating down the beach. Pure Awesome !!
That was also the first time I did end to end at WW. Definitely a great day....
