Another Reactor II for sale to help me into a set of NASA Star 3s
8.6m Peter Lynn Reactor II for sale NOW $325. I will split shipping in the continental US.
Comes with:
Kite (blue, white, and light grey)
Bag
Handles (PL Longhorns with strop)
Lines
When I bought it, it came on a set of flexifoil lines which I believe are 20m. I put it on the PL longhorn handles which are really good with this big
monster.
This kite originally belonged to Angus Campbell (owner and operator of Coastal Windsports) and I bought it from him from his personal collection.
Shortly after I bought it I broke one of the bridle legs on the right side. Angus had the guys at Peter Lynn remake a new bridle leg exactly per
their specs and I replaced it myself. I also replaced the "toggle" which the proper name for the short piece you connect the fly line to. I chronicled
the process here: http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=26713#pid25... It has never effected the flying quality of the kite. You can tell by looking at
it which one it is as the original bridles are red and the replacement is white. Other than this there are no other issues with this kite. There may
be some small dirt staining on the white, but otherwise its in excellent condition.
It is an absolutely awesome low wind machine. I have been able to buggy with this kite with wind as low as 7mph. It has advantages over bigger sized
kites in that it is slightly smaller and lighter weight so easier to work in the lighter air. I've also used this kite in up to around 12+mph.
This has been one of my favorite kites and was often my go to for the Atlanta conditions.
Here are the pics, they are not necessarily current, but still indicative of the state that it is in. Its a little hard to get pics with the bum paw.
Email is preferred (use the email button below), but U2U is ok. I'll be out of town the week of 1/25, but will still be checking email and PMs.BeamerBob - 19-1-2015 at 07:07 PM
I spent an awesome day at Jekyll Island chasing and being chased by this kite. It was perfectly matched to my 8.6 since neither of us could seem to
gain an advantage over the other. This is a more fun kite to fly if you have that 2 mph extra that makes the 10.8 unnecessary.soliver - 19-1-2015 at 09:02 PM
Thanks Bobby, I'm sorry to have to let this one go, but its time to usher in a new era for my kiting.
Also realized that I forgot to include the video links for this one... you can see that even though he's a big bear, he still can turn pretty quick
relative to his size. The RIIs are front line biased, but I found giving it just the tiniest touch of breaks got a good quick turn out of him.
Spring winds are just around the corner... soliver - 22-1-2015 at 07:58 AM
For anyone considering the Reactor, there is not a great deal of difference in the RII and the new Reactor 2013. From what I hear the biggest
difference is that the newer Reactors are a little more Brake friendly. Oh and different graphics :D
With this Kite Complete at this price you would in essence be paying just over Half price for essentially the same performance.
I can tell you these are awesome kites and I am only selling them because I want to get into the NASAs. soliver - 25-1-2015 at 09:17 PM
