BLURR VS. RAGE VS. BLADE

BEC - 22-1-2015 at 12:57 PM

Just a quick little explanation needed....

I love my Rages and Blades...looking to fill my quiver with more of them and sell off some of my PL in the same sizes so....

Has anyone flown one of the Blurrs that can compare it to a Rage? or Blade...The Rages work great for conditions that I fly in all the time...Not a lot of lift in gusty conditions. When I'm at Wildwood I just work the snot out of the kite and I seem to do just fine moving along.

I know they are intermediate kites, but I'm very happy with how they work for me. The PL Viper seems to fold up , get behind me and then reopen in the worst spot ever....the rage 3.5 I fly doesn't do this, which is why I want to swap out and build quiver with them.

So basically I'm just looking for a little feed back....thanks.

The Blurr is a excellent all conditions kite, Faster then the Rage - more forgiving then the Blade.
if you can find one grab it.

I tried a 3.5m Bruce. I agree it is a very good all around kite. Well made like all Flexi stuff.

But...... it did not match the Company's write up of it:

"....Moving into the specialised arena of speed buggying has never been easier or more accessible so if you’re currently flying a Bullet, Rage or Blade and want to go faster the Flexifoil Blurr will give you a phenomenal leap in speed...."

It may be faster than the rage or perhaps the bullet... but it was no race kite....no 'phenominal' leap in speed....No superior upwind of a race kite.
The Blade-I felt- would have both more speed and better upwind.

Buggydanny tried one and may have some helpful opinion if you contact this venerable veteran!

Thanks...that is kind of what I thought....if they fly somewhere between the rage and blade I think I will love it....I probably should of tried the one offered at WW but I was having way too much fun to stop and get another kite out....

Hey Bruce, I've flown one of Pokites Blurrs before, but it was a while back and I honestly can't speak to its performance, but I do remember it flew nicely.

I've always been under the assumption that the Blurr is close to or on par with the Reactor, and hey, I know a guy who's selling a couple of Reactors

My biii 6.6 was an awesome kite and one I would have kept if I was able to make it to a beach more often. The most fun all around kite with attitude. Coincidentally, Bruce has that one now.

Bruce, Try it in the spring back to back with your rage. It won't be that long now:D

I just remembered part of my experience with The Blurr 3.5m(brand new BTW)...

I could not get it to launch...played with length of fly lines..... and then went down to bridal and found AOA adjustment.

Moved it to knot closest to kite- as it was only was I could launch it. 2nd closest was no go , if I recall correctly. ie.... no other knot seemed to work.

Did not sit right with me that only one knot would work to launch it. Wind probably in lower teens. Flew fine on that setting...but what if I wanted different angle/speed /lift.?...but can't launch it?

I may need a little more examination and time with this kite.......though, it might not change the experience, frankly.

higher winds....maybe it might have launched on another knot..?...but I had doubts

Well here's my $.02.

Used to ride the 6m Rage quite a bit...this was several years ago. Had a 4.5 Bullet that I purchased within the 1st year I was kiting. Loved that bullet. Obviously the 6m Rage was more powerful because it was bigger, but the bullet in my opinion had more power per size. The Rage though, was even more stable. I ended up selling it just because I wanted to get more power and speed.

I still have a 7m Blurr which I use time to time. The blurr's are definitely more powerful than the Rages and go upwind better. I usually fly race kites in lighter wind but I'll take the blurr out if I want to still go upwind well and if it's gusty.

I have a 6.5 blade IV and 8m blade VIP. Extremely powerful kites. These kites have the most power out of all three. However, I don't buggy with the Blades, just landboard and it's usually in pretty light wind < 12mph. I just like little jumps :)'. Not to say that you can't buggy with them...I just feel more comfortable with a kite that doesn't lift quite as much.

HTH.
