I am so excited about next NE snow storm ... We just got about 4" few days ago ... and I was happy already ... One long session yesterday and
short one today got my heart pounding .... Not much wind to have a lots of fun , but i was scare that snow will be gone soon and I will not snowkite
for a while .....
Today media go crazy about 30" of snow in my area in next 3 days and colder temperatures that will hold for a bit .. That is so good news ....
Snow will come and stay for me to play and surely will make me take some more sick days at work ...
Winds gusting up 60mph on Tuesday and Wednesday are probably not kitable ..... so to make sure I kite enough I will go and kite those 4" we have on
ground .... lol ...
I am about to explode with excitement .... I did not kite for last 2 months ... Temps always below 40F make me stay away from water and buggy
..... It was a long wait .....
Happy kiting my PKF friends ...... and good winds for me and you .....

yeah....20-30" forecast in Boston area. May decimate coast and the beach we ride on here and pull away sand...but will be a while before I'm back
buggying on beach anyway.
Today was first day of snow kiting after 14+ days on mirrored ice. I will miss the ice and easy equipment management of ice skates. But after a great
snow kite day today, I will miss it less.
Today was strong winds and fast runs on mash potato snow.
This coming snow should be quite dry to bring real POWDER kite skiing. That's exciting:D
Maybe Nasa wing it down street during blizzard...:bouncy:Kiteflyer933 - 26-1-2015 at 09:07 AM
VERY lucky you guys!.....no wonder nothing here in Belleville, Ontario.....you're sucking up all the SNOW....all was left here are ICEabkayak - 26-1-2015 at 09:33 AM

Not much snow in SW MichiganRandy - 26-1-2015 at 12:15 PM
We have more fun wrecking cars, snarling traffic and having a overall apocalypse in the few rare times when it snows in Georgia.
BTW guys - it may seem callous having fun considering all of the problems that arise during a blizzard, but if you don't snow kite in the blizzard,
the blizzards win.Cheddarhead - 26-1-2015 at 06:42 PM
I can still see the grass in my lawn A tad short on snow in WI this year:evil:Kober - 26-1-2015 at 10:05 PM
Nice session today with my 11m Gin Cannibal ... Snow was coming down all day long but for some reason I did not see snow coverage rising on a ground
..... maybe 1/2" over 4h session .... Anyhow ... I got some fun and few small jumps ... was waiting for wind to pick up and that never happened
.... My mistake .... I should be on my 14m ......
Looks like whole storm is redirecting for MA and other Northern states .... a bit disappointing ....
I got day off tomorrow so ..... more kiting hopefully ... skimtwashington - 27-1-2015 at 05:03 AM
Got powder? I do! ...dry fluffy.
Before sunrise here and it's a blizzard...that will last all day. State of emergency declared.
Coverage on my lake will be interesting with expected uneven mix of deep snow... and old snow blown free of new. Being light, the weight hopefully
wont push up any water for hidden trap pools.
Kite in the blizzard...?:oFeyd - 27-1-2015 at 09:37 AM
Scouting some stuff. Not much up here yet, just a couple inches. The winds are pushing it around and it's already waving up on the boilerplate. Hope
to get enough to level that out a bit. We've had enough cold up here that the ice should be able to support this snow now. The wind might flex some
of the plates on some lakes and get some going but not too bad I'm hoping/guessing.
Heading out in an hour to hit the pond down the street and rip around on an Access 6m. We're seeing winds about 18kts gusting to about 35kts.
Rigging for the gust factor and relying on the fatties to keep me going through the mellow. Super dry snow.:D skimtwashington - 28-1-2015 at 08:32 AM
Don' be jealous of all the snow... It was too much snow.
My lake is now waterlogged and unusable. Hoping it will freeze up. before next
snow. Kober - 28-1-2015 at 12:36 PM
After this major storm, today I see about 4-5" of snow that will probably stay for a bit since temperatures are low looking ahead ... North Jersey
I think is everywhere same .... Central Jersey did not get as much snow and beaches are not snow covered .... That would be my next destination for
some clean wind kiting .... Anyhow ... I am happy to get some time on my snowboard ...
I know MK crew is going crazy up there with all that snow .... everyone was crying yesterday about traveling ban and being unable to kite all dat
with those perfect conditions .... I am sure they doing it right now ... I was planning to do another session today.... then I decided to go do
something less exciting .... work ... boooooo .... lolabkayak - 28-1-2015 at 02:08 PM
i knew this wasnt gonna work out well...but i got a ton of food at the house now and it did give me the motivation to finally have my natural gas
generator hooked up and running...so there is that Cheddarhead - 28-1-2015 at 03:21 PM

You have a good point Skim! Some snow is a godsend but too much and you have what you just described. We have just a dusting on our lakes right now.
I prefer a thin layer of bonded snow to bare ice. Feyd on the other hand would probably prefer the later. All a matter of personal preference.skimtwashington - 28-1-2015 at 07:38 PM
The dynamics of a frozen lake are mystifying...
Some earlier cold snow/rain melted some sporadic fissures and holes that probably allowed a dispersion of water to come up and spread out with new
snow's pressure...even though new snow was light and fluffy..
....yet it was shortly before this a solid 9-10+ inches of solid ice shore to shore..? Ehhhh.. go figure.
