How to make your new wife LOVE kite flying!

pokitetrash - 18-2-2015 at 12:29 PM

Sorry I've been outta touch but here's some pics from my beach wedding in October at Amelia Island. Never did get to do a tandem with Tina but I did get to buggy. Awesome weekend with my family (Frankiter!) too.

Hopefully many will meet Tina at JIBE.

I had 25 of these kites made and everyone at the (small) wedding flew one. It was really cool, we gave a few extra out to random people on the beach and that was really fun watching strangers smile and have fun with us all like little kids.

We had friends and family who couldn't come to the wedding write well wishes for us on all our kites ahead of time so that they could participate in some way and their prayers and well wishes would get flown high. It was really cool.

Congratulations on your nuptuals.

I also was able to make a future wife fall in love with kites and me [the kilt may have had something to do with it as well ]. Now she is signed up for a week on the Playa , just need to get her into the/ a buggy.

She's a whole bunch better looking than the dudes you've been hanging out with in the Kite Fort for the past several
years... I hearty well done and welcome to Tina ! We'll be seeing you at JIBE !

What a cool post! Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and meeting new faces!! The kiter's wife/girlfriend support group is most excellent at JIBE!! All the ladies get to hang together and discuss their "kids". Lol

Dude. You are brilliant. Oh and congrats on being able to get some bug time in :)

Hey dudes, I figured I'd share the info on how to get these kites if you want to create your own event.

Here is the vendor. Plain white Kites are $8.50 each, less in bulk. They are Nylon or ripstop type material.

I used a local t shirt screen print shop in my town that Davis Cheek aka "MyAikenCheeks" owns and he did the design and screen print.

Its called Tshirt Shoppe" Aiken SC 803-641-0909. Davis does the shirts for JIBE and is great to work with. Davis has the system and knowlege to do these right.

Any shop that can screen print should be able to do it but they need to be careful to not melt the kite in the process. Like I said Davis figured this out for me. Make sure you order 2 or 3 extra kites so the print shop can have a couple trials.

I ordered the kites, and took only the sails to the shop so they didnt have to mess with keeping up with all the parts. Remove the bridle too. It all comes apart in seconds. I then had a reassembly team ( my kids) put all the kites pack together after the printing.

Hand them out to guests and enjoy!

Oh and by the way you can just color all over them with markers if you want instead. You can also order the kite as a kit with markers.
