NAPKA Racing at IBX

Morrie Williams - 27-2-2015 at 11:30 AM

Are there any people who plan to race at IBX?

So far NO ONE has stepped forward to organize the racing.

If there are no plans in place by 3/15, there will be NO NAPKA sponsored or insured races.

IT'S UP TO YOU!!!

P.S. You must be a paidup member of NAPKA prior to 3/25 to participate in NAPKA racing.

I can assist with organizing if it will help the racing to occur. That would preclude me from racing but I'll make that sacrifice. What do we need?

Morrie Williams - 27-2-2015 at 01:00 PM

We need a race committee of NAPKA members, designated officials - race martial, judges, etc. All must be NAPKA members. I will NOT be involved at all this year.

unfortunatly, things are stacking up against me being able to even go this year. :(

We understand. You aren't the only one that could do this, where are the racers?

Bladerunner - 27-2-2015 at 04:44 PM

Sorry but it looks like I am a no-go this year or I would have helped out. :(

I hope you get to pull it off! Everybody I saw who took part in the races last year had " that look" on their faces. You know the look. The ear to ear grin like they had just found kiting for the 1st time.

I don't know BLM rules? Is there anything there that says folks can't just put up some markers and chase each other around them ? It would be nice for folks to have a chance to gain points from NAPKA ( and of course those skookum trophies ) but there is still a chance to get skooled by Stephan, Eli and such !

Sure, anyone can put out some cones and race. However, NAPKA will NOT sanction it or supply insurance.

The last time I looked not a single person had signed up for racing at Ivanpah.

If the racing falls through then how about a medieval buggy jousting tournament ?

You would think I would be aware of there being a signup for racing. Between my new job, planning IBX, and a flooded house did I miss something? Let's make this happen.

There is a link on the IBX/NAPKA page that goes to the event detail, where there is a sign-up button.

Here is the direct link to the sign-up http://napka.org/event_reg.php?Event_id=101.

Sorry,
I won't be going either.
It was wonderful but I kind of planned to go every other year.

Thank you to those who put effort into last years racing and other events, you did an excellent job.

I had a very good time and plan to go to IBX next year.

The IBX permit is set up to allow for racing. If there isn't going to be official sanctioned racing, then there is no problem setting up some cones for anyone to go out and hone their skills. I know a National Champion buggy racer that would enjoy putting on a clinic for those interested. I had already planned on following him around to learn what I could. Maybe we can increase skills and confidence in those that should be participating but don't feel worthy, and do it bigger in 2016.

Morrie Williams - 1-3-2015 at 05:47 PM

Just remember that IBX's insurance MUST cover any adhoc racing, NOT NAPKA's insurance!

BeamerBob - 2-3-2015 at 07:10 AM

If it's not official racing, then its just riding.

People, if you want to race at IBX, it's time to step up. Let's here from you.
