The Gentlemen's Charvolant

RedSky - 24-4-2015 at 06:30 AM

The Aeropleustic Art or Navigation in the Air by the use of Kites, or Buoyant Sails.

No actual Charvolant's exist today, so I used a modern Charvolant (kite buggy) with the added essence of gentrified ambiance.
The session is from Wednesday afternoon. I only had two hours to make this video before rushing off to workl, so it's a bit slap dash but I hope you find it to your liking.

Charvolant. I never want to forget that word.

kiteballoon - 24-4-2015 at 08:16 AM

What did I just watch!?

1oldkid - 24-4-2015 at 08:38 AM

That was funny! Great job on the vid...Are you "preppin" for JIBE this year?
Sounds like they are going all out with fancy proper stuff, you'd fit right in! :D
You dart skills need some work...:P:lol:

pongnut - 24-4-2015 at 08:39 AM

Do you make music videos for a living... you should!

markite - 24-4-2015 at 08:53 AM

That was a lot of fun, good way to end the week. - nice work Tom, I like your style.

Randy - 24-4-2015 at 11:53 AM

That was awesome!!

ssayre - 24-4-2015 at 12:17 PM

Awesome Tom, love it. You actually execute the funny ideas that pop up in my head, but I'm not bold enough to pull it off.

Bladerunner - 24-4-2015 at 12:47 PM

I loved the OLE, Out of Lounge Experience!

Darts in the wind, what a wonderfully British way to handle down time.

So ...... What is more comfortable the lounge or that sweet buggy? We know what one is more fun!

indigo_wolf - 24-4-2015 at 02:30 PM

For some reason the lounge chair on the turf reminds me of the movie, "Everything Must Go"

Caveat: Despite the trailer and some humorous moments, the movie is not strictly a comedy. Good movie, just not unilaterally upbeat.

A more upbeat lawn furniture movie would be"Danny Deckchair"

Sam

RedSky - 25-4-2015 at 06:15 AM

:D Thanks for the replies. You're all comedians. :D

It was literally a last minute idea as I was leaving the house and already running late I was rushing about looking for the car keys and gopro. As I made my way to the front door I passed the chair in the lounge, I paused, turned around and thought yeah lets have it. It was a struggle getting it out the door.

JIBE sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. Darts used to be my game back in the 80's.
Here's how I won that jacket > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aloNixbli6g

OLE  The chair is far more relaxing. The bug is a very tight squeeze and getting tighter by the day.

ssayer, email me those ideas or better still, YOU execute them! :D:thumbup:

Thanks again everyone :D

You're too kind Sir, thankyou.

No gentleman would wear those pants with that jacket to kite buggy. He would wear a brown suit with brown shoes. What was your valet thinking of?

Quite right. I've had my butler fire him.

Bladerunner - 29-4-2015 at 03:58 AM

Back in the day my buddy and I decided that blue jeans and jean jackets weren't cutting it as ski wear. We were kind of punks and traditional ski suits weren't going to do. We stumbled on some old tuxedos and both wore / wrecked one for that season. He was the better skier but anybody who laughed got blown away by both of us on the slope! :smug:

I was actually in Aspen in 97 and I'm sure I saw you both. :D Which one is you ?

Thanks sand flea, very nice of you to say so. I'm touched.
I was thinking earlier today about a whirlwind tour to meet up and ride with some of you guys at your local fields, beaches and dry lakes rather than visit the more well known popular events.

I'm thinking the east and west coast of the US and Australia. I might have to do it in two parts. My work is a necessary ball and chain that keeps me pinned down and pretty much makes holidaying all but a dream, but one day.
I'm curious as to where you all ride and putting names to faces.

PHREERIDER - 30-4-2015 at 06:37 PM

funny stuff!

Bladerunner - 1-5-2015 at 04:48 AM

Gawd I hate it when people drag up old photo's from your past! :P

I am not sure how much time or when you can swing over to the U.S. but IBX, WBB and Jibe all run semi close to each other. Just enough time between each to do some touring.

I would go back to Aus. in a heartbeat if I could find the time. By far some of the best beaches I have ever seen for our sport.

ssayre - 1-5-2015 at 05:37 AM

Tom, make sure you have a layover in Indianapolis :)

sadsack - 1-5-2015 at 10:53 AM

Do you want to play darts for money?

bigE123 - 1-5-2015 at 11:48 AM

Nice one redsky, the thing that keeps tickling me is the fact you hauled that chair out, did you slip it under your mack as you left the house, or does your Missus not realise it's the star of a utube classic :D
PS if she doesn't know you do realise we will blackmail :D

That would be a dream tour but time is limited. I fancy the idea of seeing where you all ride locally. To see you ride in your natural habitat. I want to see what challenges you face riding there if any. I want to checkout the scenery, whether it's glorious country or urban sprawl, I don't care. It would be fascinating to me.

There's a beach on the west coast of Australia called 80 Mile Beach where parts of it are used as a highway. I measured it on GoogleEarth and they should have called it 120 Mile Beach!

Don't judge me on my performance in the video, I had 20mph crosswinds. Playing indoors I can hit the board 2 times out of 3 so be warned.

Ha! A YT classic I don't think so, but thanks bigE. There is no misses, I thought that was obvious from the shenanigans I'm allowed to get away with. There is someone but she made it clear from day one that she likes her own space. :(

RedSky - 1-5-2015 at 02:42 PM

Oh happy days! :D (this comment relates to something completely different)

I kinda figured that wind was a factor when I ribbed ya about the dart thing...that video still cracks me up!
